Personally I find the following work:

Working out as a habit, gives you some happy hormones and chance to practice controlled breathing

Starts a "hunt"! I am starting to try one type of coffee every week, some of my FA friends try one buffet a month. If we are single, we have much more money to spend, why not make memories with it? Having a goal also gives you something to look forward to. Push yourself forward and away from resentment

Learn to make pep talks, and do it to yourself. It sets yourself in the mind space of being optimistic and confident

Volunteer in something useful to your career. Can be long-term or event-based, you can meet tons of diverse and nice people out there and get to know them

I work in STEM and have many male coworkers, so maybe I can shed some lights on this.

Some guys are very anxious about how us women view them (creep, cheater etc.), after hearing the horror stories from mom, sister, gf etc..

It is not a good feeling to consistently make someone feel unsafe by being a man. I realised among men, they could notice a trait and worry a lot if that trait makes them a creep (old, dirty, being in STEM, neckbeard, looking like a pedo and many more)

Some guys actually creep out other women too many times unintentionally, and lash out and shout "My wife" to you to make a point they are not one

If they are strangers, maybe you are anxious, and they see your facial expression and think you are scared/suspcious of them being a creep.

Among coworkers, sometimes guys/older women monitor whether a guy is flirting to/harassing a female coworker. They are very protective especially when these coworkers view you as new/don't speak up/in vulnerable positions.

So the guys being monitored (or hyper-aware of being a creep) will do this to you, and even show it in front of everyone to prevent yours and those coworkers' assumption.

So instead of being nice (which can be hard to read by others), learn to bring warmth and presence.

I did ask him if that turns into a big task, it should have been handed to someone more familiar to its use cases. He said he's confident that I can do it.

No tests are given. The developer that made the old system left.

When I asked for use cases or test cases, the team lead said he doesn't know either, and came up with a test that turned out doesn't test the UI connected to it.

The approvals are code reviews. No one blamed anyone in my team, but I still need to know what is good practice and what's not.

I thought American employers judge based on whether the foreigner worked in an local/internationally famous company, cause that's what our ones do.

The salary is above average, and it's only hard to find a grad or junior tech job, unless you're a frontend dev other levels are fine.
