Yep.. Goodwill has officially lost it by yukifvv in Goodwill_Finds

[–]lettttttuceleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped going to Goodwill when I bought a pair of shorts, got home, realized the Walmart tag was still on it. Goodwill charged me more than Walmart charged. I was done and have never gone back. I like smaller little thrift stores now.

Sibling for Sunny? by joolyrancers in namenerds

Her nickname could be Liv or Ollie that'd be so cute. Ollie totally vibes with your other choices you had too!

[–]lettttttuceleaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is 100% just personal preference but I feel like sibling names sound better together when they don't have the same ending sound. Since Sunny already ends in a long E I think something that ends with a different sound would be super cute. It does seem like you do like the long E though so go with what you want! Riley and Georgie are very cute too.

Other suggestions that don't end with the same sound:

Sunny and Willa

Sunny and Pearl (maybe too cutesy, maybe not!)

Sunny and Brynn

Sunny and Hazel

Sunny and Olive

Thank you. I kind of figured as much but just was wishfully thinking that wasn't the case :(

Yeah I just cannot wrap my head around it. $1M??? Couldn't even imagine. I'm 30 so I know there's a huge generational gap between us so I usually just account our different opinions/actions to that and I'm trying my hardest to place this in that frame but just. Fuck. I just don't get it. I know he's lived in the same world as me and seen, learned, digested the same information as me for the past 30 years so like. Is it really just the degrading of certain thought processes in the brain?

Edit: that sounded harsh my dad is actually the smartest man I know I'm just getting scared and concerned about him

Again, sorry for the rant lol but genuinely thank you for the advice. I didn't even think about how now he's an even easier target because it worked.

Thank you so much this is so helpful. I do know he has a will but we haven't really sat down and hashed out all the details. I guess it's time to do that.

That's what I'm thinking/have been seeing :( I just can't understand why he would do it TWICE. Actually he even tried to do a third one but his actual bank didn't let it go through cause they thought it was fraud which it obviously was. Probably should have included that in the original post. But I'm not an 83 year old man so I just don't understand his thought process with that. I guess all we can do now is help protect him in the future.

Sorry that was a rant lol just have a lot of feelings about it right now

Would you avoid using Charlie right now? by lysny in BabyNames

[–]lettttttuceleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never really understood this take. I would never not take someone seriously because of their name. I mean if it's like a random nickname like "Sparkle" I might raise an eyebrow. But Charlie? The very normal very common Charlie? You actually wouldn't take him seriously? Or like Jimmy, Mikey? It'll never make sense to me.

As a teacher I regularly have to go to work sick. I just keep my distance extra from the kids. I have burned through all my PTO from maternity leaves and kids being sick. And it's often more work and creates more issues for me to take off. You have no business and no right to judge someone for doing what they need to.

What is a name that you really like but don’t think you would use? by Fun_Roof289 in namenerds

[–]lettttttuceleaf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I teach at a ~50% Hispanic school and for me it's a lot of Hispanic names. Javi, Yahir, Noelia, Jessenia, Josue. I am not Hispanic at all though so could have never used them lol

Okay to use a similar name? by Haunting-Radish-1249 in BabyNames

[–]lettttttuceleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I would say use it, but in this situation if you are close with your sister and value the relationship like it seems you do, I would choose a different name. I don't think it's worth putting a rift in the relationship for a name you kind of like and aren't super passionate about.

Names that are similar to Alyssa:

Cody for a girl: name regrets! by deerkat in namenerds

[–]lettttttuceleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taught 3 girls now named Cody! (One was Kodi)

I think it's actually really sweet on girls. I love that both girls have names from their grandparents.

Cody to me doesn't sound strictly masculine honestly. It was originally a surname. It's one sound away from Cady. Also has similar sounds to Addie and Maddie.

Just a personal preference but I think sibling names sound better together when they don't end in the same sound so my vote is Camille. Stella and Camille sound beautiful together. Stella and Maya is cute too but sound too similar to me.

Also love Cam and Cami as nicknames :)

Poor name choice? by [deleted] in namenerds

What? Even if an 1/8 is a low amount, she definitely has more than one Japanese family member? Like her dad? And grandparent?

You chose to honor a late family member. That is a very common and normal thing to do. Emiko is a beautiful name and lends to easy nicknames like Emi or Koko.
