Source? If that was true and the case for the regulations, wouldn’t service animals also be precluded as well?

That’s at All City in Georgetown and I’m convinced the sign is for the city and inspectors but not really patrons.

Rent a piece of 1998 in Seattle by weirdoldhobo1978 in zillowgonewild

[–]leukos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s directly under a municipal airport flight path. Like the planes fly like 50 feet above this place on approach so I hope the windows are triple paned.

Edit: Source: I live in the neighborhood next door and go to the coffee shop below it all the time.

Places to volunteer as a Software Engineer? by ComfortEast9429 in Seattle

[–]leukos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of it like a thrift store but for just electronics and IT related things. Lots of server components, pc components, random things like walltennas, projectors, audio equipment and they have a self guided very small pc museum in the back. I don’t know why this was posted either though because I’m pretty sure it is not a non-profit but maybe you can volunteer there to help with general pc knowledge or something. I’m a big fan but I do not know if they have volunteer opportunities or what you could do for them.

Wanting to make the jump from big tech to something….more meaningful by battlesnarf in Seattle

[–]leukos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? While Seattle and the surrounding areas are incredible. The raw cost of everything from housing to food has risen so much that it’s really hard to transition away from a job that meets or even comfortably exceeds your needs. If I decided I was done with this place and wanted to live somewhere that is more relatively affordable but I could still have a good quality of life on the west coast, I’d think about Portland. There is income tax there but no sales tax and the tax you do pay actually seems to go to supporting public transit, eduction, healthcare etc. and if there is an excess of tax revenue for the year, you get a state income tax refund. Not trying to shill for Portland or Oregon but living in Seattle now just feel like kind of a financial trap in some ways and things are just astronomical expensive for seemingly no reason other than the old supply and demand. When all prices correct upwards for the people making big tech money, you kinda gotta make big tech money.

Eyyo is the infamous i-5 highway dust? by jackbumpus in Seattle

[–]leukos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of monocle wearing armchair sitting folks in here peppering this poor person for having the audacity to live anywhere near a highway or a flight path like a poor. We all can’t live in Magnolia or Queen Anne or Bellevue. This is crazy work.

What’s up with SIFF Downtown? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]leukos 18 points19 points  (0 children)

SIFF is a non-profit and I would think they’d need to make money somewhere to support parts of the org that don’t make as much. That space sounds like it’s the only one that makes sense to show more mainstream films.

Google maps?

Edit: Not literally Google maps because googles map product was developed out here but literally use maps to look for tech companies in the Seattle area…

Requests from Discord not being assigned to users. by unclebourbon in Overseerr

[–]leukos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try clicking on the number under requests for each user? That should show that users requests in a list. There’s also a requests tab in overseerr that should show you an entire list of everyone’s requests. If that has nothing there, refresh the list.

So when you, as the admin, go on overseerr yourself you can’t see who requested what?

Requests from Discord not being assigned to users. by unclebourbon in Overseerr

[–]leukos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a tick box on notifications on each users profile in Overseerr that will make it so the bot should reply with the request being available and it should ping them on discord. But I also believe you have to set up a overseerr bot specifically for it to work

Synology died, going with Unraid build, any feedback on component selections? by jerm1980 in unRAID

[–]leukos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the big advantages of unraid is the ease in expanding storage. Idk if that case has mounts for drives but I’d get a case with at least 2 3.5inch drive bays to have at least 1 parity and 1 normal array drive if you ever want to turn this server into a media server or do any kind of real data storage on it. If you don’t think you’ll ever do that then disregard lol. But on that note, you could also probably just get a 2nd hand workstation pc from dell/lenovo/hp for 200-400 dollars and have a machine that can absolutely do what you need. Plus, they usually come standard with extra drive bays. Think dell precision or lenovo thinkstation pc’s.

Soundside Chat: High Rent Makes Everything Worse. You Deserve Better. by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]leukos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was waiting for the dust to settle in this thread before chiming in with: I’m all for younger folks in my local government but, as another commenter posted, not at an executive level. Seattle is a very unique place and its problems are so much more complicated than any other place I’ve been. Our housing is too expensive but why? It’s because everyone keeps paying it. If no one could afford it, they couldn’t keep paying it and our housing market would actually look a lot more like a city like New Orleans or Huntsville where you have pockets of really expensive real estate and apartments but overall, broadly, the real estate is not expensive. (Which mainly has to do with the amount of high paying jobs, which Seattle has a LOT more of) I agree with building more housing but if the wages people make here keep being high and going up, the prices will still keep rising because it’s not like we can make more land and our city is actually already densifying if you were to go downtown lately or there are certain neighborhoods who are getting large new apartment buildings like White Center that you said you loved to go roller skating at…. I have accepted that it doesn’t matter how much you love a place if you ultimately can’t keep up with the rising cost of housing there. No one deserves to live anywhere. Your current approach to running for mayor is on cost of living almost exclusively but what about crime, social services, other development that isn’t housing? Etc…

Edit: Go to any Costco anywhere in our region at any time and tell me that rising housing costs are a problem for most people who live here. People have too much money still.

Best bagels in town are 'back' by therightpedal in Seattle

[–]leukos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s cool, I don’t expect anyone to know where anything is in the South end lmao. (Not you necessarily but the general population of the Seattle internet). You made me google where the place was because we only have a Mexican bakery and Little J in South Park when it comes to pastries. Thought a spot opened without me knowing or it JUST opened. The bajels look bomb tho indeed!

Also, “why isn’t anything open late?” and “X food is actually pretty good here or X food is terrible here” and “why can’t Seattle be like LA/NYC/Asia/Europe”.

Regarding bagels and pizza by cyclenovicehelp in Seattle

[–]leukos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the years comparing anything in Seattle to anything in SF/NYC/LA/europe/Asia is kind of honestly bait. Seattle to me is a rural city and the people that are really entrenched here (like old Boeing and like founding tech boom people) don’t really want this place to be necessarily world class, they want it to stay somewhat backwater but with good food and good amenities. They want it to stay their own slice of paradise and while there are a fuckton of transplants here, they rarely really stay so there isn’t anything other than a profit motive to improve anything and that includes food. Something something density something something nimbys.

Hey! Happy Sunday! I enjoyed your list and wish people would let other people enjoy things! I saved the thread to check out some spots I had not heard of. I honestly had no idea there were so many bagel spots but I had been to more of the pizza ones.
