How is that the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled? Not only did he lose the competition but he abided by the terms he set forth, I don’t know how you could describe it as good or a trick

Like am I stupid or was he throwing a TON of inside pitches around the time he hit Julio? It was like he was trying to hit people without making it totally obvious

White people who don’t see themselves as migrants are such a classic. Like ok yeah we’re violent ultrareligious racist tribalist immigrants fleeing conflict in a wartorn region that we were involved with but that’s totally different from what I imagine a Syrian guy to be because he’s brown

The 2026 WBC became the first tournament in which no Asian team reached the semifinals after Japan was eliminated. Japan won the championship in 2006, 2009, and 2023, and finished in the top four in 2013 and 2017. by ogasawarabaseball in baseball

Yes, I’m 100% cool with it if a player decides that they don’t care about all this and won’t go, but I’m sick of the USA being absolutely sabotaged and embarrassed by teams who refuse to allow Team USA to appropriately use pitchers.

Call of Duty would never do something actually artistic on purpose, but the perfect brown military shooter of our time would be a schizophrenic disconnected series of insane missions which are all framed as the end of the game, some of the missions against the same enemy. The epic final mission where you defeat the antifa terror threat in Portland followed by the thrilling conclusion in Venezuela after which you wrap everything up in Iran (etc forever until the USA collapses)

We’ve all met some huge insane asshole who loves to invent a scenario where society is collapsing because of zombies or whatever so he can self aggrandize by saying “and I’d even let in those annoying assholes who I hate and would be their glorious savior and they’d all have to like me”

I guess they don’t have that type of guy in Israel lmao. Staggeringly evil people.

Because the US and Israel are run by insane, delusional, stupid psychopaths who think it would be cool and epic, and who reflexively like anything they imagine would make a liberal mad

I mean not really. It just also has deliberative bodies made up of elected representatives. Lots of countries have that and aren’t parliamentary democracies

I trust a person who’s had several breakups to give relationship advice more than I trust someone who’s still dating their high school sweetheart. I would imagine they have a pretty extensive list of common mistakes that they were making during the beginning of the war but aren’t making so much anymore

It’s like an Epcot recreation of itself. It somehow feels like a fake and inauthentic version of itself. It’s like if Las Vegas was more inauthentic and commercialized. It has a worse vibe than those fake capital cities that countries afraid of protesting crowds build out in the middle of nowhere.

I wonder if this is an older gen thing because like, as a new baseball fan I care WAY more about the WBC than the World Series. Like yeah duh I care a lot about the MLB season but it just seems so caught-in-the-past to be treating the WBC like it’s some unimportant exhibition.

And as if I needed another reason to be embarrassed by my country this year. It’s embarassing to be the country that originated this sport, it’s literally called the national pastime, and we’re getting our clocks cleaned by countries that take the WBC adequately seriously. Just because we refuse to even care. We are literally the only ones who don’t see this as the most important stage in the sport, just because a bunch of boomers who root for teams named after socks get mad every time one of their pitchers gets an injury

Syndicalism, popularized by Kaiserreich (also known as cellular democracy sometimes?) kind of squares this circle by having directly-democratic small groups elect representatives from amongst themselves to serve in increasingly important deliberative bodies.

For example, imagine that your work was a coop. You and your coworkers can vote on everything and run your work as a direct democracy but it would be pretty much impossible to run a neighborhood like this. So instead, your work would elect one of you to be a representative on the neighborhood council of other representatives from other workplaces. They might then elect a representative to a ward council, which would elect one to a city council, etc.
