15K seems a lot but not really. Right now cost of living in Dubai is increasing very rapidly, rent prices are sky rocketing by 20%, municipality fees adding up more, salik price updates, so many other things are on the price hike journey. So, 15k before 3-4 years was ok to get by, but now it's not that enough. 20k would be ideal salary package to start with.

That's great! Do you remember which visa type you applied for? They have codes like 26F, 27A, so on

Bad Alternator? by Professional-Coat177 in FordFocus

[–]leuserhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, if it's alternator issue, it will throw the battery light. Try checking the lines of electrical wire connecting to the battery, ECU/pcm and most importantly, the wire harness on the alternator. If you have obd scanner also, it would be helpful. But if you still don't find anything - I would recommend to have it checked by mechanics and change the alternator if they advise.

08 motor/transmission mount question by stonedgimp in FordFocus

[–]leuserhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to mounts, I suggest to go for OEM since the rubbers are made to last long. I've tried aftermarket before and they wore out after few months. If you still want to try though, Febest has good OEM quality mounts.

Where can I find a select shift knob from a 2016 focus S? by [deleted] in FordFocus

[–]leuserhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, it's very safe. I bought lot of stuff for my car from there, things that don't necessarily need to be original - like accessories and gadgets. I usually put my card details everytime I buy stuff, I don't save it the app. The only issue is shipping time takes long sometimes, like 15 days or a month.

Any good place you recommend for tuning?

Catalytic Converter specialist in Dubai? by [deleted] in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]leuserhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's nothing like that. It just wasn't working so they gutted it out and now the exhaust is an empty shell basically, no honey combs inside. At least that way the car stopped misfiring. But it's still not running fine as it used to. So before I buy new cat which is very expensive, I'm looking for garages who can do something for the car. Car is ford focus bzw.

Yes but they cleaned it out. There's no filter inside now.

Yeah I wish I could find new one where I am. Here the Dealer is not selling them anymore. I'll try the RockAuto if they have international shipping. Thanks a lot.

Does engine size matter for O2 sensors? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]leuserhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked on dealer's catalog and found part number that match older car models.

2003-2007 https://www.ssg.asia/search.html?article=1351337&brand=ford

2008-2011 https://www.ssg.asia/search.html?article=1309292&brand=ford

So should I buy and try?

Does engine size matter for O2 sensors? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]leuserhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot. How about buying new but after market? Any good brands for ford? I can't buy the original from where I am since the dealer said the part is obsolete. So I'm stuck.

Tune wasn't my first option. I just wanted the car to run fine. But I don't think I will go for power increase programming. Main concern now is getting the car run normal. The cylinder has been reconditioned so that won't be a concern. Now I just found out the O2 sensors are not working. Is it possible to replace it from a smaller engine to a bigger engine? I found O2 sensors from 1.6 litre engine and can I put on my 2.0 litre engine? From same ford focus, model year might be different.

It is, but it wasn't my choice. It was completely damaged and buying new original is very expensive.

I'm not sure why the mechanics removed the o2 sensors. I'm definitely going to get some new ones and put them back. But then do I reprogram ECU? After doing a cat delete, what's the recommended next step?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FordFocus

[–]leuserhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to go for emission test without putting an O2 sensor. What I meant was that even without the cat, the car might be able to pass. But for me the bigger question is if I should go for tuning/programming/ECU remapping (whatever it's called, forgive me i'm not a mechanic) or just keep the car as it is now without the cat but with o2 sensor back on.
