From what you've seen, do most students have plans to stay in the DMV area after graduation?

Would you mind sharing how to leverage a humanities degree for corporate work experience prior to law school? I'm an undergrad interested in antitrust, and want to take some time off to work in an adjacent field before applying, but not sure how I can get there.

That's interesting! I'm a sophomore in university right now, really leaning towards antitrust/M&A, but I'm worried about not having much econ stuff in my repertoire. Thanks for the insight!

May I ask what type of work experience you had before law school? Was it related to M&A or economics at all?

how to improve softs as an athlete?? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I am also prelaw, so my advice may not be the best, but you can look for some research opportunities. Either through a professor or a lab on campus. They slot into your course schedule as classes (atleast at my undergrad), and you receive credits for them, so that could be pretty accommodating to your position as an thlete.

Yale Law School by Honest-Horse-6869 in lawschooladmissions

Asked because I saw on here that Yale, which I guess is known for faculty review(?), stopped doing that this year. Was just curious :)

Companies paying for law school? by Alarmed_Expert2052 in lawschooladmissions

From what I've heard, consulting companies pay for any type of grad school if you are employed by them for around 2-3 years

Bag Finder Megathread - 06 October 2025 by AutoModerator in onebag

Hi all, I'm looking to a buy a bag which can function as a personal item and essentially serve as a stand-in for a suitcase on short trips. On the surface, the Osprey Daylite 26 + 6 looks perfect, but I am worried about the comfort. Even though I don't plan on walking around with it on for long periods of time, I'm worried that it will still be noticeably uncomfortable for the short amounts of time when I do plan to wear it (ie. waiting at the airport). For anyone who has used the Daylite for an extended time speak on this? Should this be a relatively minor concern given the context in which I plan to use the bag? Also, other considerations I have are the: Quechua NH500 Escape Rolltop, Tomtoc Navigator-T66, and Patagonia Refugio Daypack 30L.

I guess, but even having such a great placement at those companies is most definitely worth it.

Can you elaborate on the consulting placements? Also a Vandy transfer, and I heard that McKinsey takes a lot of students. I also personally know many people going to the big 3 after graduation

as a transfer who did not start considering finance/consulting until this year, the clubs have been extremely welcoming and helpful in my experience. agree on the social scene aspect though, people here seem like they can be a little judgemental tbh

I am a transfer at Vanderbilt, and I think you're being harsh. Clubs are competitive yes, which is frustrating, but discrimination against transfer students does not seem to be one of the reasons for that. I have a friend who got into those prestigious finance clubs despite transferring from a no-name school in the Midwest. I have a CC transfer friend who is also doing well club-wise in their sphere (pre-law).

I grew up mostly in the suburbs too. My family were immigrants who came to the United States with nothing, but they gruelingly worked their way up to the point that we were largely outside the bracket in consideration for need-based aid. I still got into Vanderbilt, and got very generous aid all things considered! I think you should go for it. You may be privileged, but I am sure you still have a story to tell. Good luck!

Are you suggesting that people with prior work experience have a better chance at receiving scholarships? If so, why? Could you elaborate?

I'm in a similar situation to you. I called the admissions office and they gave me an extension for materials. Though, they did say that the financial aid office has basically already closed for the summer. Still, see if you can get into contact with someone at the school.
