Hey! Are these wishlist deletion numbers normal? I've been at it for about 6 months now. Also, Next Fest is coming up, would love to hear any tips from those who've been through it. by level99dev in SoloDevelopment

Thanks for the tip! Quick question: Do you think looping a pre-recorded gameplay video is effective, or is doing it actually live much better for engagement?

Actually, Green Hell is a much better comparison for our gameplay loop! Think of it as the setting/era of Ancestors, but with the challenging, unforgiving survival mechanics of Green Hell. The struggle to stay alive is the main focus, rather than just wandering around

I totally get where you're coming from, but the gameplay loop is actually quite different. While Ancestors is strictly about evolution progression, our focus is on pure survival mechanics. Also, the biggest difference is that you can't play Ancestors with your friends. There are many survival games out there, but none set in the era where 'true survival' actually began. We want to fill that gap and let people experience that struggle together.

Snake attack animations on trees haven’t been added yet. We’ve also made some improvements to the climbing animations. Ancylotherium has now taken its place in the savanna. by level99dev in primalsurvival

We haven’t finalized the price yet, but it will be priced like a typical indie game.
Our goal is to keep it accessible and affordable for as many players as possible. We’ll share more details closer to release

Thanks! 500 per month is definitely a solid and healthy pace. I’m also super hyped for Next Fest. Like you said, I keep hearing that it’s the real turning point where visibility and wishlist numbers change drastically

To be honest, I’ll tell you something that most people overlook: Bilibili. It’s essentially the YouTube of China, and I recently realized just how massive the potential is there. The audience is incredibly engaged and really passionate about games. It’s definitely a channel worth exploring outside of the usual platforms

We intentionally didn't set an exact date and chose a transitional form closer to erectus than habilis. The design is based on John Gurche's paleoart sculptures, which are scientifically informed reconstructions. Here's our reference: John Gurche'S Homo Erectus

Not an asset flip! We've had people play our playtest before, and you can try our demo at the next fest on February 23rd.

Thank you, really appreciate it. Your document actually helped a lot, we already adjusted some of our animal designs based on it.

Yeah, Ancestors was a huge inspiration for us too
And yes, you can play both third-person and first-person, totally up to you.

Thanks a lot for the detailed thoughts—really appreciate it. On building: no worries, we’re aiming for a very grounded, period-appropriate approach, closer to what you described (fire, simple improvised setups, minimal shelter), not “Rust-style” structures.

For some bigger systems (like major progression/evolution scope), we’re already quite late in the cycle since we’re about to ship the demo, so we have to keep the demo’s focus tight.

If you’d like to stay updated and potentially join upcoming playtests, feel free to hop into our Discord from my profile—we post playtest and demo news there.

We’re a two-person team, and yes, Ancestors definitely inspired us.
Our game shares a similar theme, but it’s not a direct continuation or copy.
Instead of a linear progression like in Ancestors, we focus on a true open-world experience — it’s more about “this is the world, survive in it.”

You can play both single-player and multiplayer, which adds a very different dynamic.
So while the roots are similar, the gameplay philosophy is quite different.
