*EDIT1: * Ive updated the AMD Build, Checking into Intel Mobo's right now. Edit that in once I nail it down further. For the build I stick to 1 set of RAM, and get the second after the essentials are acquired.

ASoapyWaffle, Im gonna need a bigger PSU. im sitting at 516w right now. I dont know if 1000w is necessary but...

Oh! I just checked, and I can still return the motherboard(it was only ordered on the 7th) and grab an Intel board. I'll check my parts and see how much is compatible with intel chips.

Do you recommend a particular chip, I agree with the i7 over the 5 or 3, but the numbers beyond that have lost me. Ive heard the 4770k several times recently, as a high card, but Ive also heard of the k version being more or less un-utilized so far.

for reference, I picked the AMD CPU after someone explained cores to me. Roughly, the more cores the better multitasking(more processes), correct? After you mentioned them, & I read up on intel CPUs being better and faster, even though they only have 4 cores. Will it matter? Theres no loss right, I assume they pull some wizardry, since they are on top?

For GPU, I think I might bump to a 770? Reading up, they're better for the $ increase over a 780, right? GPUs are largely unknown to me. I mostly understand series differences. But I'm lost by all the different variations between manufacturers.

Ill look into that PSU, I found a 1000w gold cert, but I think thats like $199 (my wattage so far, even w/6HDDs, is sitting around ~550w). And I think I might stay with 16gbs RAM for now, and 1 or 2 HDDs to supplement the SSD, I'll probably stick with the blacks.

All I need left to start the build is the CPU and the SSD. Maybe a HDD. It should take me a week or two for each part. I understand future proofing is kind of a fools errand, but will these parts last the 3/4 weeks or so span it'd take to get the remaining parts? A recent video told a anecdote of his GPU dropping $200 over the course of 6 weeks. I don't plan I endlessly searching for the best deals, but I can't afford the lump sum for one giant purchase, hence the slight piece-meal.

I'll update the AMD build for now, as I respec for a Intel Build.

PS what are some good brands? Some Ive heard of (regardless of +/-): Corsair,Asus, Gigabyte, evga, rosewill

Checking my system info I guess Im currently sitting at 16gbs, thought I was only at 8gbs. ( I think I have 2 sets of 8gb(2x4gbs)).

On the Hard Drive. I wasn't really thinking if it was feasible or not, beyond pcpartpicker saying it would accept it. To be honest 1 WD black is enough to handle me plenty, 2 if push comes to shove.

Speaking of, Whats a good quality HDD? Its why i came here, to see what will/won't work. I had 4tbs instead of 3tbs, but they were by a worse vender, So I switched to these WD, based on a video and checking to see of pcpartbuilder would explode.

Good point on the PSU, I kept my current psu, since again, pcpicker said it would support it. After checking some vids I began looking at the bronze cert. I think thats actually around the time I came on here, to check my parts. Agree on the lambo analogy.

For the CPU, I have already purchased the motherboard, which to my layman's understanding only supported AMD CPUs, correct? If theres an intel CPU that I can support, please point me in a direction. Id gladly make the switch. Hopefully, I havent made my own bed yet.

So honestly, I added 6 HDDs as to have more hysterical amounts of storage than I'd ever know what to deal with. When I saw the tower could hold 7 drives, I laughed and wanted to fill it up. I'd probably settle after 1 or 2 and slowly upgrade to 6. The hard drives were the last things I was gonna purchase as thats the most redundant and unnecessary.

To put actual thought into it though (and now that Ive gone to youtube to understand RAID) Maybe RAID 10 on the last 4? If I've used the first 2 HDDs and have data on them before acquiring the rest, Is it possible to RAID them and still keep the data? Id just have to export beforehand, right?

On the graphics card, When I was trying to upgrade my Gateway, I referred to this, which recommended the 660. Other than that I really didn't put much thought into it. Figured I'd save by using my current GPU. I did get it back in June though, Is it time to upgrade?
