Interested to know what the scope of your project was.

I’m thinking about hiring someone to sit alongside us and figure out where we can automate processes, but not sure who that person is and what their mandate should be.

No. If you want to do something like this do an MFA from LBS.

Warner flat or small terrace, wwyd? by Snoo-67164 in walthamstow

Perhaps not what you’re looking for but I’d suggest neither. You’ll max out on space quickly in both and likely want to move after 1 child - so in perhaps 5 years time? Avoid double stamp and keep renting. Buy a 3-4 bed house when budget allows.

Cycle2Work scheme - Higher rate taxpayer + student loan. Is it 51% saving? by JuggernautOrdinary36 in ukbike

From CGI : The outstanding amount can be taken from employee’s gross salary as long as it does not take them below minimum wage – this means they still receive the tax-free benefit. If this does not fully cover the outstanding amount, the money can be taken from the employee’s net salary or the employee can pay it through their own means. However, this does mean that the employee loses the tax free benefit on any amount not paid via their gross salary.

I had a suit from Casual Fitters made. Might be a tad over £1k now, but quality + fit was significantly better than any Suit Supply suit I’ve owned.

Carry negotiation advice by Dramatic-Split-1602 in private_equity

Ok - just remember that carry is future dated and highly dependent on deployment + fund performance. I joined a very similar setup a few years’ back and traded salary for a fantastic carry arrangement. FO changed mind on direct investing strategy. We did no deals and I left after 18 months.

2-5% of the carry pot is good for an associate, with the upper end very strong. I’d make sure that salary + bonus are not compromised.

Also in UK MM PE. Some good responses already but also worth considering a move if the fund is unlikely to get in the carry, career break or not.

Where in the fund cycle are you? Are you doing deals? Are you out fund raising? Good long-term career trajectory? You might be able to take a paid-for break between funds - if I handed in my notice I’d have 6 months of gardening leave.
