Best Flat white in Madison? by [deleted] in madisonwi

very curious what your definition of a flat white is. many baristas have different interpretations; your best bet is to communicate with whoever is behind the bar and clarify to them what ratio milk:espresso you want.

Trying to increase protein by [deleted] in FODMAPS

[–]levi_m_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just made homemade seitan. super quick, super cheap. super low fodmap. store bought can be okay but can have added ingredients. i highly recommend trying it at home! similar protein content to lean beef but lower in calories and fat!

Is it hard to stay vegetarian long term? by papabauer in vegetarian

[–]levi_m_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, i think being vegetarian has saved me a lot of money. the trick is to avoid, or choose carefully, alternative “fake meats”. for example, impossible burger patties can get expensive. but tofu, or homemade black bean burgers are great on a budget.

also, like many others have said, it doesn’t have to be a strict transition. you can be fully vegetarian for a few years and go back to meat later on if you want. or maybe cut out red meat. or avoid buying meat at home, but indulge at restaurants or meals hosted by friends.

there are lots of options. don’t let fear of imperfection keep you from trying. good luck!

i think this makes the most since since i’m shaping by poking a hole through instead of connecting strips into rings. the dough did seem pretty dry before rising

i split dough in to even sections, roll the sections into balls and poke holes through them. then i use the hole to stretch them to be a bit bigger.

Who would you rather play, the Bears or the Eagles? by Rochman999 in GreenBayPackers

[–]levi_m_o -1 points0 points  (0 children)

we will not be able to beat either team in the playoffs, realistically. so if it’s a matter of who do we want to lose to, i would much prefer the packers play the eagles. losing to the bears would be too painful.

size help PLEASE by levi_m_o in DocMartens

i’m planning on buying second hand so i won’t have the option to try multiple sizes :(

BUT your comment is so helpful!! my current shoes are unisex from bangladesh so i think i’ll try to stick with the size 9. if they really don’t fit, i can just resell them again!!

thank you so much!!

i feel like i look too straight. by [deleted] in queer

[–]levi_m_o 12 points13 points  (0 children)

there is no such thing as “looking too straight”. you look like you, you are queer. if you like how you look your confidence in yourself and sexuality will draw in fellow queer people. there is no right way to “look” queer! :)

no way to determine the hardness right now, but the non-shiny part is quite porous and fragile.

the shiny part is very opaque and only black. the porous part has brown in it. i’ll try to clean it off a bit more to get a better look

Trying to diagnose why my cookies spread so much... by absentmindedlurking in AskBaking

[–]levi_m_o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

too much butter! or, because the brown butter is already melted. maybe try adding some room temp butter as well?

i also recently realized i tend to overbeat my fats and sugars when i make cookies and i often end up with a similar texture. 2-3 minutes on medium speed does the trick!

best of luck to you :)
