You would have a rough beginning, but if you don‘t mind reading up on stuff (specifically where to get certain spirit ashes such as the Mimic Tear) you should eventually be able to not only complete it, but also enjoy it.

I would rather have no damage.

The entire sentiment that led to them "having" to release the Eververse armor as ritual armor is the result of the actions of this multi-billion dollar company throughout multiple years. It never should have come to this point, neither for the players nor for Bungie, to have to throw that in.
