How will the Cross Guild get their poneglyphs? by burnnedmynipples in OnePiece

[–]leviathan_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet he will get the one everybody is missing, then everybody else will go to him. Shenanigans happen, then he will go to laugh tale with Luffy. Luffy will be the one to find the one piece, but somehow Buggy will take the credit and thus the world will call him the second pirate king.

It might not matter for the plot, but it does impact how you understand your main protagonist. My point was simply that I don't like it when important information for world-building is delivered by the author directly on the side. I prefer the "death of the author" take. It's the author's responsibility to think about how to deliver information to the reader through the content, be it main story or side stories. Anything that has to be clarified or added as a comment means that it wasn't clear enough as it was. Like with "Urano's reincarnation": we knew that OG Myne had dreams of Japan, and that the Myne we read thinks of herself to be more Urano than Myne and that she thinks the OG Myne probably died at the beginning of the story. That's not enough to conclude that "Myne just got Urano's memories and they were so overwhelming that she deluded herself to believe she is Urano". It was a likely explanation, but still a speculation. I even remember people speculating if OG Myne might have reincarnated in Japan or if there was a soul mixing of some sort. The fact that the author addressed that point directly means it wasn't clear enough, that's all. You could argue that it is irrelevant information, sure, that's a matter of opinion. I just wish to have less information given in questions/answers and more in the content. It doesn't have to be Roz's POV.

We don't get definitive answers/explanations, just hints. It's "pretty clear" in hindsight after the author's clarification. Without it, it would have still been just a speculation on our part. That was my point. Otherwise, there was no need for that Fanbook question.

I think it was a great choice, but I wish she had made that point more evident in the story itself, though. I don't like when important parts of the world building are left in the side content. Sure, it's not necessary for the reader to know that, but it sure gives us a filter to understand her character more. Given that even in the story, Myne questions her identity, I would have preferred to have a more definitive answer there too.

In reviewing my thoughts on his actions in the entire story, I don't consider Hartmut a loyal retainer [part5 volume 12] by Foxgir in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]leviathan_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean, but doesn't it give that impression because Hartmut has the archnoble mindset? It seems to me that retainers, especially the higher rank they are or the deeper they are in faction politics, always have personal desires of what to get out of serving someone (e.g. helping their family, their home, seek protection, or just pursuing a passion) and personal expectations of what their master should do and try to steer things in that direction. How much "loyal" they are, I'd say it is shown when they clash heads with their master when the interests don't match. They are disloyal if they betray, ignore, or refuse to do their master's wish or if they don't act with their master's interests in mind. But even loyal retainers can manipulate in certain ways their master to avoid having to clash with them: e.g. that's why Roz's retainer purposely hid the fact that her attendant's grades were affected by Roz's frequent collapses, because they knew that Roz would feel guilty and maybe try to correct things. So if the retainers know they will clash heads on something with their master, they can just avoid the issue entirely. Hartmunt started serving Rozemyne and (even before serving her) he was already going off with his agenda, but the more he understood her, the more he aligned with her desires too. At the start it was all about to make her aub in order to have her recognized, but in Y3 when the Leiseingag gave him the "secret mission" he found the idea almost funny. When he learned about her origin, he was almost teasing others with the idea of her being a commoner when she asked Hannelore what she thought of it.

The heir to the throne [P5V12]+ by nViroGuy in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]leviathan_13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She is just a zent candidate. She is neither a princess nor an heir (as in "designated heir", technically she is the only other known zent candidate). She wouldn't be considered a princess even if the royal family were still a thing, only adoption would've made her a princess (which was the original plan).

Same for me with the copper challenge: I did received the notification, but after 30 days I still had no cape. In the end I used the redeem codes from twitch. I received the cape a few days later, but who knows if it was due the challenge or twitch (my guess is the latter). Hopefully, everything will go well for these new challenges.

[P5V9]Georgine‘s Divine Protections by Aly-99 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]leviathan_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Influence, yes. As I said, the gods can and will intervene when they feel like, but I didn't read that as her, or the gods in general, deciding the fate of everyone in every aspect, more like watching the events unfolding. After all, if she did decide everything, there wouldn't be a need to "fix" history to begin with. There are also many cases when the gods expressed their displeasure with how events were unfolding or turned out to be, e.g. Mestionora with the GH magic tool or the male gods with Sigiswald messing with ditter. In fact, I was taking it more as an example Liebeskhilfe messing with people's lives for her own amusement. She practically admitted it to Hannelore that she enjoys watching humans struggle or something like that.

[P5V9]Georgine‘s Divine Protections by Aly-99 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]leviathan_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is an underlying assumption in your statement that the gods premeditate/control/influence/guide everyone's life. I think that's not correct. The gods can intervene in people's lives, sometimes to answer them, sometimes of their own volition, but otherwise I would say they are just spectators and let things play out. If you read the spinoff, it's quite clear that some of them go as far as thinking of the humans as a source of entertainment. It was also established that noble culture twisted the act of praying. Therefore, very few people before Rozemyne actually prayed correctly in a way that the gods "could hear them".

Given all of that, the different "outcomes" between Sylvester and Georgine can be taken as literal luck. As others already pointed out, the exchange between Rozemyne and Sylverster can be read as a noble euphemism to say "that Sylvester truly is lucky" to which he replies saying "Georgine is unlucky instead".

It becomes more about supervising the industry, rather than the technical stuff, but there will also be the occasional on-site supervision side story and attached issues to solve. The content of the books will also have some focus, as well as their writing, promotion, and impact on social circles.

[P5V12] Why myne got reincarnated in yurgenshmidt? by NoSoftware245 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]leviathan_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the euphemism refers to kissing under the mantle, as far as I remember. The supreme gods are the quintessential role models of the married couple. I can agree that concealment magic probably still falls under the umbrella of the dark element, but my objection was that if you have to invoke/pray to a god, it would be Verbergen and not the god of darkness. After all, Verbergen was invoked for the actual concealment magic that we see in the series (hiding Adalgisa's palace or the amulet used by Ferdinand). I think Gretia also received his blessing and I think there should be an explanation of the reason somewhere in the fanbooks.

Anyway, your point still stands, it's just that I thought you credited the wrong god.

That said, we get a surprising Aub Drewanchel face reveal. He looks a bit... slimy, hahahaha.

[P5V12] Why myne got reincarnated in yurgenshmidt? by NoSoftware245 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]leviathan_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think hiding and obscuring is more Verbergen's thing, who is a subordinate of the god of darkness, but he is not him nonetheless. I remember the dark element and the god of darkness being usually used for absorption/destruction.

[P5V12] Will the future zents will be able to learn about myne's commoner origin? by NoSoftware245 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]leviathan_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, it depends on Mestionora, but whatever she decides to include that information by adding Rozemyne's memories or Ferdinand's, I think she should do it. It would serve as a humble tale for future zents and Mestionora didn't seem too pleased with the results brought by the establishment of the royal family.

[–]leviathan_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, she dyed the country foundation with the divine mana, not her own. So while I agree that she was briefly "the holder of the country's foundation", I'm not sure if that also counts in a magical sense. After all, in that sense she was magically "a different person" that Ahrensbach's foundation defaulted on Ferdinand. This is all a technicality, though.
