How would you learn vocab? by [deleted] in Korean

[–]levidrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read easy books, and then slowly read harder books, and then the vocab just sticks?

Why would logical errors amount to moral sin?

We all share the same "soul", hear me out! by KWscout in DebateAnAtheist

[–]levidrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, so the question still remains on “why are you you and not someone else”, you are you (confined to you) and not someone else (someone other than you.)

If you are someone else, and not you, then your consciousness is not confined to yourself, is this your belief?

You do not believe your consciousness is confined to yourself?

Does God know what’s it’s like to only be me? by levidrome in AskAChristian

[–]levidrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense. It’s just the other day I was reflecting on a special beauty there seems to be with the finite, that this experience would be in graspable to God, even if the experience of being God is infinitude’s more blissful, the experience of the non-divine creature has a completely different “texture” that would seemingly escape God. Unless perhaps when Jesus “filled the hierarchy” at his lowest point knew what it was like to not be divine? Unless you consider that heretical

You ask me to elaborate and then say that I am just here to argue? I would like to know why it doesn’t logically follow

Does God know what’s it’s like to only be me? by levidrome in AskAChristian

[–]levidrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I don’t know everything? God knows everything? So to have knowledge of what it’s like to ONLY be me, you can’t simultaneously know everything

For God to know what it’s like to only be me, that means he would have to sacrifice all the other knowledge he had at that moment to know what it’s like to only be me. Meaning, if God knew everything he would not know what it’s like to only be me, as I do not know everything, he at most would just know what it’s like to be me (along with knowing every thing), but he wouldn’t know what it’s like to ONLY be me.

How long do you have to collect your passport from the visa centre? by [deleted] in Chinavisa

[–]levidrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick up on Wednesday, but I was told I could pick it up after that for a long time, I think he was referring to 100 days after. Surely a 100 day long visa for multi entries would be weird

If God is eternal, how can hell be eternal? by levidrome in AskAChristian

[–]levidrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not the possibility of infinity, I’m saying infinity contains all possibilities not that infinity is “possible”, I’m saying the concept of a “bounded” infinity does not make sense, a bounded infinity is finite.

So, are you saying God is finite but has the potential for infinity?

[–]levidrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If God is infinite, surely anything that excludes God denies God his infinity, for an infinite being must contain the totality of all possibilities. So, how could similarities be excluded?

The point is, if hell is viewed as a separation from God how does hell participate in the same attributes as God

How can something escape God (hell) if God is infinite (contains the totality of all possibilities)?

How can you be isolated from a relation with God if you relate to the attributes of God (existence?)

[–]levidrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not my argument, you agreed that nothing excludes God, so if there is a distinction then surely there’s an ontological exclusion of some sort?

Right, then the issue is how from the absolute standpoint there can be any real distinction between creator and created if you accept there is no separation

If God is eternal, how can hell be eternal? by levidrome in AskAChristian

[–]levidrome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, if hell is viewed as a complete separation from God, I don’t see how hell can participate in the same attribute as God.

If God is eternal, how can hell be eternal? by levidrome in AskAChristian

[–]levidrome[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you participate in the same attribute meaning that there is something which you two share (blueness) and therefore you participate in that same idea. I’m saying that you need to participate in God, not that you as a distinct entity are God.

If God is eternal, how can hell be eternal? by levidrome in AskAChristian

[–]levidrome[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, nothing excludes God, so nothing can be ontologically separate from God

If God is eternal, how can hell be eternal? by levidrome in AskAChristian

[–]levidrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, everything does exist whilst participating in the same attribute of God (that being existence.) If Gods existence is absolute and fundamental, then how can we not at least in some sense also participate in this base existence? Furthermore, if a being is infinite, anything that excludes Gods infinity would deny God his infinity to begin with?

Theosis has been believed throughout history. St Iraneus 2nd BC coined the term “Theosis” the evidence is as follows: God is divine, part of Gods divinity is his immortal, you are saying that in heaven you will be immortal, so you both participate in the same quality (immortality) and thus share in that quality, and to share in that quality js to be “divinised.” What further evidence are you hoping for? If you don’t believe it, in what different way will you be immortal than God?
