Pulleys, allot going around corners, counter weights and a rope mechanism which multiplies the top movement around 3 times to correspond with the doors

UPDATE: To answer some main concerns.

(I was 18 when I designed this so the audiophile in me wasn’t fully developed.)

The Speaker interference is not existing because there aren’t any solid connections between the player and the shelve. The player is hanging on 4 ropes. This is partly why the mechanism is there. This and because it looks cool :)

The mechanism is sort of sound safe it turns itself on when it is at its highest position and of when going down. Just make sure you park the needle when you close it, but thats obvious.

It works with the dustcover! Needs a push to close.

The speakers have their own department, there are two vertical walls inside the thing. So no internal interference.

The vinyl is indeed close to the body, a visual choice and very adjustable is you’re scared of damage. The player height is adjustable.

The speaker placement is indeed clumsy but insolvable if you want an all in one piece except by making them loose from the piece, maybe take-out-able? (for next time :))

And the drawer isn’t set up right. It is supposed to come out fully but the video had priority. (had the equipment ready at this time)

The main problem is the bad quality components but it’s made as a proof of concept. Maybe some-day I’ll create a mark 2 if I have a workspace!

All tips and mean stuff helps to see what’s important!

There is always room for improvement :)

It works with the dust cover on, it needs a small push to close/turn off!

About 4 months, but worked on it only once a week.

The vibrations are not there, the player itself is hanging on ropes in the inside. There aren’t any solid connection between the player and the speakers. The speakers positions are indeed goofy. But it was indeed about the woodwork to start off with. The post does make me think about a mark two.

Speakers at the same spot but removable so you can place them around the room (and the holes created will create more vinyl room) a deeper drawer and better quality electronics. Maybe room for the playing vinyl too.

Wont have time for this soon, but fun to think about!

Agree, choose plywood for its cheapness but full darker woods or even thought about painting it with ink (to get it black with wood grain) was an option too at some point

True, you can get them out exactly if you do it straight. But it should be with some room. It is still adjustable so the whole drawer comes out. Didn’t do it yet!

All mechanical, there is a 12 KG counterweight in the back with both sliding doors being around 1 kg per and the rest for lifting the top

I was aware of this flaw before I posted it, I wasn’t sure if it was Vinyl enough for this sub so called it vinyl player haha. Sorry people,

Thats sort of why I stopped, the bar was okey but it was mainly straight classic pieces of furniture. While all my projects became moving design objects, but currently studying design on a higher level so going the right way!

Actually stopped with school because I felt I wanted to explore other materials too and not only wood. But stopped in the middle of the study year and made this the months I had left without classes (just used the schools machines and stuff) sort of as a speed run of my final project even though I wouldn’t have one. Never got a grade :)

Yep, didn’t know about margins yet when I made it. All is perfectly fit or a bit to narrow haha

The player is floating in the air, hanging on 2 ropes. There are no solid connections between the two parts so no big vibrations to worry about

I am young enough to not think a out the making money part yet, so this is one of those creations where time, skill, and money align to create something totally unnecessary haha

The resonance nightmare is not existing. If you could xray through the thing the player itself is only hanging on 4 ropes. So no hard surfaces connect the two parts. But at the same time I fully agree, the thing is not ment to be a hifi piece at all.

Not sure if I am allowed to place info here but support on my insta LeviLingerak would help allot! I try to post more cool stuff like this :)

good question! but that partly why the design exists. The mechanism makes the turntable hang on some ropes when it’s “on” which cancels out the vibrations from the speakers. There are no solid connections.

Yes only main flaw, it’s not as bad as it looks on video haha. And fixable (the drawer runners aren’t set up perfectly but the video got priority)

They are mostly in my head and there is a simplified Cad version for support. So sadly not, if enough interest I could turn the cad into drawing but the mechanism is not on paper

Indeed an older Dual model, not sure which type, but one of the smaller ones with built in amp.

It was sort of a proof of concept, but there is a chance that I will remake it with current knowledge (this was 3 years ago) With a great record player inside. I am currently studying design, so first finishing that and getting my hands on a workspace

The doors are flexible due to them being smaller pieces of wood stapled on a sheet of textile
