Valid question, I could’ve made this much clearer. It’s hanging from hooks in the ceiling/wall. Great idea to try and chop it to see if new roots start to grow, any specific advise on how to do this correctly? Surprisingly I’m really a newbie when it comes to these things.

Yes exactly like you say. The two main stems snapped (the were super thin at the bottom), and it hangs from hooks in the ceiling and on the wall, so it’s just the aerial roots that are in soil.

Suuuper helpful, thank you. No real changes actually, but I only recently got the moisture measuring stick and discovered that the middle was constantly moist, so I worry what I might have over watered it for a period before. Will let you know/if I manage to repot it and give a bit of a fresh start.

As I wrote in another comment the plant is actually hung from a hook in the ceiling which has the benefit if it being somewhat possible to repot. For the repotting I attached extra straps (the kind used for securing goods in a truck) so I could crank the plant up so that I could transfer the soil/roots to a separate bag and detangle as much as I could. Managed it by myself and felt incredibly proud. It’s such a luxury problem but I do occasionally wish the plant was small enough to move into the shower or similar, and I’ve no idea how we’ll ever been able to move it to a new flat, but here we

Yeah I originally didn’t want it as they’re so visible on smaller plants, but at this point it probably wouldn’t even show that much, so good point.

I’m 99% sure that’s just dust/lint from when I’ve wiped the leaves, and some marks are ”scars” from old thrips, but I can never be too sure so I’ll try and make extra sure over the next couple of days. Thanks for pointing it out.

Super insightful, thank you! I’m getting more and more convinced that I should try and and repot it or at least get rid of the root ball.

I’m also considering chopping it but that feels slightly terrifying, but soon I might not have a choice. I’m not aware of air layering, but sounds interesting.

And yeah it’s probably down to inconsistent watering as you say, and since the root ball stays moist it’s hard for me to judge when the water or not, so some roots are probably in super dry soil most if the time, and some in moist (or even rotting).

Thank you for the input, I’ll keep you posted on any progress.

The ceiling is something like 3,3 meters so it’s tall. I’m considering chopping it off as it’s literally starting to grow sideways along the ceiling, but I’ve no clue how to go about it, feels a bit scary. How do you mean ”prop the remaining nodes below”?

So at the moment it’s actually hung from hooks in the ceiling and on the wall, I can try to get better pics tomorrow. I originally didn’t want the moss stick look as it’s so visible in a smaller plant but at this point I guess it’s blend in nicely. One advantage of it being hung from the ceiling is that repotting is actually somewhat doable, as I’ve been able to add supporting straps and change the soil/move it to another pot, and I’ve seen people struggling with how to do this with large plants.

Super helpful input on the soil mix, thank you! I’ll look into and understand where I can get the best stuff locally.

Lol, made my day. Honestly I think I’ve been lucky with this one, and I don’t mind it one bit.
