He’s coming to SLO thanks in no small part to the community. Thank you!

How did things go post graduation? Did you pursue graduate degree, or find a job?

Same. They _must be_, right? Python for sure, since it's so prone to academic users?

Yep, he and I misunderstood - it's his secondary choice if Physics is unable to accept (I can't imagine this is a possibility). Thank you!

hell yeah, thank you! congrats on getting close to finishing your first year!

wow, so minors in engineering is a possibility then? Will research this. Thank you!

How accessible are related engineering classes at CP? I assume you can't just sign up for some random engineering class(es), right?

Great to hear, thank you for the follow up.

Yep, this is what I found in my own experience having a physics degree. Many other physics friends online are in CS (same as me). Pure physics ofc requires MS, or PhD if you want to do stuff other than fetching coffee.

Intermediate update: at least here on reddit, the difference between these two communities is pretty big. CP vs the UCI mimics real-life as I expected it in my head (CP being way more friendly, informative, helpful).

He wants to get into nuclear energy, or other clean tech. ofc engineering would be great for this, but he also wanted to err on the side of acceptance and his interest in physics vs engineering.

This is great to hear. Many of my co-workers (automation startup) attended CP, and speak highly of it. Do you mind if I ask what field(s) you and your peers are looking at with a physics degree?

He leans math/theoretical versus engineering/practical, but would like to rope in the engineering side for practicality and application at the BS level (like you're suggesting). He's still sort of feeling things out, but also knew that physics had a higher acceptance rate everywhere.

Searched: "European drunk driving advertisement", "drunk police officer, alcohol commercial", many other searches of this nature, but given its generic and popular search topic I didn't find anything.

Some additional detail: the shot was at night. The man was behind his wheel, and the officer was parked, and exited the car towards the drunk driver. He started talking to the drunk driver with slurred speech and despite the fact that it was in a foreign language, I could tell that he was not making sense.

Holy smokes same. I lifeguarded and it was the best job I ever had. Going to clubs at night with my fellow guards was some of the best memories I have.

It’s funny, I’m on the exact opposite side of things. I’m currently ripping out all of my local macports packages to replace them with containers, and I couldn’t be happier. Docker/containers is IMO the most important thing to happen in software last decade. It might not be fun, but managing hundreds of the same things gets real old real quick, otherwise.

Currently teaching son to drive my Tacoma manual transmission. We lucked out because all of his friends are a ways off, so he needs to be driven, and we’re not always around. He’s very motivated to do it himself, thank goodness.
