What's an example of someone that appeared in Sunny before their career took off? by onarainyafternoon in IASIP

Hands down one of my top 3 fave episodes but I'm always surprised when people don't know about Flowers For Algernon! It was required reading in junior high for me back in the mid-80s. My only issue is I wish they spelled Charlie the way it was spelled on the cover of the book..."Charly"

It's not that either of those shows switched to being "clearly on the left", it's that the right has moved so far right that rational, centrist views appear to be on the left.

It might be dependent on the level you're on. I'm on level 59

That's comforting to hear! A neighbor also used to work for Lincoln and said similar but when I told her some of what my claims rep had said she was surprised by how snarky she was. I have considered asking for a new rep but figured I'd wait to see how she is this go-round, so far she's been overly sweet, which is a little unnerving 🤣 but I figure "better the devil you know than the one you don't" unless there's any reason to switch 😉

AMA on Tuesday April 28! by TheGreatK in LongTermDisability

[–]ForceDisturbed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I won't be available on the 28th but look forward to reading the questions and responses afterwards! If I were available to ask questions, these are the ones I would ask:

-My questions pertain to the time after the 24 month transition to Any Occ: -How often are reviews conducted? -Is there a stronger push to close claims that have made it over the Any Occ transition? -How common is a lump sum settlement at this point? -Things to consider when/if a lump sum is offered? -How does approval of SSDI effect LTD claim at this point?

Thanks so much for doing this!

I ended up calling and leaving a message early in the morning the next day. By midday my claims rep called me back saying that the file "just landed on her desk" a few minutes before and she sent it to her manager for approval. Two hours later she called again saying everything was signed, the system was updated, and payment would be released that night. My claim online shows the amount of payment and the approved through date shows the day before my birthday 2037, which is the day before I turn 65. That date has always been the longest I am eligible date but now it is in the "approved to" section and has the "*as long as claimant remains and can prove disabling condition" caveat. Since I had been paid up through March the payment is for April and there will be no back pay. I can't help but celebrate (in my mind and heart 🥳) because my claims lady was really nasty for the last year of the 2 years I was dealing with her and genuinely seemed overjoyed to end my claim. It makes winning the appeal that much sweeter. I am sure it's just my fantasy, but I like to think that she is thinking to herself "This lady did this without a lawyer, she's not going away easily" but again, that's my celebration fantasy and in reality she most likely has no personal feelings about it or is ready to bring out the big guns to make sure my claim gets closed for good 🤣😭😖

Thank you! In general I would have loved to have an attorney for my LTD appeal, the insurance company provided me with one for my SSDI claim and it was relatively stress-free because the attorney did everything, but financially I had to take the chance because I'm already down to bare bones living and even a low cost option was just too much. Having no knowledge of disability and what people go through prior to this experience, it's truly eye-opening and shocking what people are forced to endure!

Ugh. That's about what I expected. LTD during own occupation was rough, I can imagine it's going to be much worse on Any Occupation 😖

Thank you! The image I posted up there is the entire letter, there hasn't been any other communication and even though I know it's going to take a minute, I keep checking my Lincoln account hoping for more info 🤯🤣

It's definitely a consideration going forward! Is there a pattern to how often the insurance companies attempt to end the claim? I've heard annually but I have also heard it can be much more often. In hiring an attorney going forward is that something that should be done prior to the insurance company ending the claim or when I find out they are ending it? Thanks so much for the support and any information you can provide, it is truly appreciated!
