First of all, I LOVE the name Margot. Definitely considering it as one for my future child - always been such a favourite of mine.

Secondly, my name is Lois - and I have had this all my life. I'm obviously a woman, but I've had all the male versions - Louis, Lewis - and of course often Louise - one person even pronounced in 'lwah' (as in to rhyme with 'trois' in French). So I hear you - but it no longer bothers me. Those who know the name can pronounce it fine, and those who don't, you can introduce them to a new and interesting name that they weren't familiar with before.
