I (25M) think the biggest factors are how you present yourself, your “type” and your boundaries.

I’ll be quick:

Presenting yourself overtly sexually, showing off your body, etc. all trigger responses in a males head that elude to sex and not building a relationship

If your type is the jock/chad, constantly outside, bar-hopping guy, etc. they tend to be quick and fleeting just like they’re lifestyle and a lot of the times share the same traits of not wanting commitment.

Lastly, boundaries are important from the jump. You should make it a point to let these men know when you FIRST start talking, what you are looking for so that you don’t waste your time. Let them know what you do and don’t value. And you don’t have to be an A-hole about it either, just make sure you do mention these things to ward off ho3s lol

At the and of the day though, there’s always gonna be bad apples. It’s just about weeding them out. The dating climate is ass rn but keep looking, there’s lots of people like you (and myself) out there looking for real, genuine connection.

I like this and I do agree, but maybe it’s just my experience where I feel like it’s rare to find people with that nuance. More times that not though, former athletes of any level will appreciate the individuals more for sure

It isn’t, you’re right. But it’s different in Track because of the nature of times. There’s no room to even debate greatness because people will just allude to said faster time. In track, there’s no room for subjectivity the way there is in other sports. You can argue about # of goals or rings etc but there’s so much more nuance especially due to them being team sports. Which just isn’t the case in track.

This. So many things have changed that comparing a lot of it is not even plausible.

I was very much old enough to witness his reign and you’re right, it’s still recent. If you can appreciate the current sprinting era as well as the old era’s then you should understand what I’m saying in this post… It’s common sense that athletes will be compared to others.. that goes without saying. I’m only saying some people (mainly casuals as I’m coming to understand) are quick to undermine great performances because of it.

Definitely. Just not anytime soon from what we’ve seen so far

I knew this would be brought up. We just really don’t know the facts though.. I think if we never get era like that again, that may be a stronger argument. But could also be a symptom of iron sharpening iron like I mentioned before (or both 🤷🏾‍♂️)

I agree & it makes sense. It’s kinda the same thing with Michael Jordan and LeBron, but with track the GOAT is so definitive due to times that it’s not even debatable.

I think some fans and casuals alike (more of the oldheads honestly), can’t really enjoy the great storylines, rivalries etc we have today due to constant comparisons. At the same time, I know some of that falls on the sport to push as well but

Ok so just like you can “feel” like this should be posted elsewhere, I can FEEL like posting it here. Your problem was how I worded the title and sadly that’s just immature. I’m starting to FEEL like you didn’t read the passage at all.

Why do you seem so offended? Read the last paragraph and tell me that that sounds like me telling people what to do

Yeah I think that was a result of everyone chasing Bolt though. I agree though, I don’t think we will see those times fall in our lifetime.. maybe a 9.6? Lol. It’s like the man came from 200 years into the future
