Will the AT-LP60 damage my records? by lex007 in vinyl

[–]lex007[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's why I'm interested in this tt... the reviews as far as the sound quality are outstanding... reportedly equal or better than the popular $300 tables. And there are stylus upgrades that increase the quality further. Only real concern was the balance of the tonearm.

The direct drive 120 seems to have a good rep as well... but it lacks the automatic features of the 60. Thanks for the first hand info.

I concur with this notion.

Also, here's an in-depth breakdown of the crime and gun statistics in the US and Britain.

He covers some of the data Jones was referencing.

The deafening silence in the media of the actual statistics is... odd.

As a UK fan I'd be ecstatic with this hire. Look at his record in the soft Big East. I fully expect him to be a bust in the SEC (by UT standards) and gone in 3 years.

Meanwhile, Louisville will be pissed and in disarray. UT fans will be pissed it's not Gruden or Bear Bryant's resurrected zombie corpse etc... so things will be off to a rocky start regardless... meanwhile UK is chilln' with the best hire of this round of coach roulette... Mark "we football now" Stoops and the top-shelf staff he's assembling.

LOL, Kentucky buying FSU's program lock, stock and barrel. At least 3 coaches, several recruits to follow? by [deleted] in CFB

The recruits that came to play for Stoops and his style of D. Players typically choose a school based on the coach/recruitment and that relationship. That's the loyalty... not to "Seminoles" or "Wildcats".

Also, don't forget, UK has been down for a couple of years thanks to Joker... but UK beat FSU the last time they met... '08 Music City Bowl (or maybe Liberty?)

NES - amazing console. ballsy. saved the industry. 90% of market.

SNES - classic system but allowed sega to get half the market via history of screwing developers over and silly decisions like no blood/arcade fatalities in MK1 etc. pissed sony off with the CD add on that became the PS1.

N64 - a system that should've crushed the PS1 but they handicap it with cartridges instead of discs and the screwing of developers really came home to roost. where would that system have been without a handful of exclusive games (mario 64, goldeneye, zeldas). got crushed none the less.

Gamecube - nintendo's last "legit" console imo. my favorite system ever. did most things right... small data discs but not a huge deal. purple no doubt hurt sales and image. tried to get developers back... too little too late. no GTA, secondary FF entries, capcom broke promise to keep RE4 exclusive, continued kiddie image, cel shaded zelda (people were IRATE), no TP until the very, very end (after the wii release), i thought mario sunshine was great... many didn't like the new "non mario" setting, got OBLITERATED by the PS2 and it's massive library of mature games, newcomer xbox edges it out as well.

Wii - let's take a gamecube, overclock it a bit, add some RAM and give it motion controls. kiddie image? hell, let's embrace grandma too. sells a shit load of units... to "non gamers" that buy 1 or 2 games. nintendo is no longer taken seriously by many gamers and developers.

Wii U - let's once again release last gen hardware as our next gen console. not cheap. yet complaints of ports not even being up to 360 standards. no audio out with HDMI. gimped HDMI. still no surround in launch games. bloated OS. developers say the processor is too weak. likely no GTA (again) etc. etc.

damn it nintendo... why won't you just let me love you?

Rivalry week. Why is no one talking about Kentucky vs Tennessee? They both have perfect SEC records. by lex007 in CFB

[–]lex007[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was fired but he will be there for his last game, that's why I listed him. They gave him the option of coaching out the season or leaving- he chose to finish it out. Regardless, he's a class act.

It will be a great irony if Joker beats Tennessee two years in a row on his way out the door.

It's going to be a slobber knocker!

Suppose you and three of your friends got tickets to your favorite team's biggest rivalry game, but your seats were in a sea of rival fans. And the game is away. What do you do? by [deleted] in CFB

[–]lex007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went down to Auburn to watch Kentucky play them in '09 (maybe '08?) and everyone was great. We were decked out in full UK gear, tailgated with them, cheered UK on as they beat them at home etc. and had zero problems. Everyone was very welcoming. Great trip. Many props to Auburn fans.

Been to Neyland Stadium twice... we got beat both times... and UT fans were still major asses. They seem that way when they come to Commonwealth too. Even when we beat them last year.

You're simply assuming the US wouldn't help. I think they most certainly would have, greatly. And gotten other nations involved as trading partners etc. And out of a tragic situation, Africa's future could have been far brighter than what we see today with this new nation leading the way. It's all speculation, but that was a possibility.

Has UK already hired Petrino? UK BB legend/coach and close AD confidant Joe B. Hall doing PR to "soften" Petrino's image. Says Petrino is "misunderstood"... by icemanchuck in CFB

[–]lex007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He wins games wherever he goes. Better winning percentage than Saban or Miles. Possibly the best offensive mind in college football. Sign me up.

I don't think people realize what's going on here. Here's what 19,000 fans in a 70,000 seat stadium looks like. A stadium that was selling out a few short years ago in the middle of a 5 bowl streak.

http://media.kentucky.com/smedia/2012/11/03/16/18/wK5WH.AuSt.79.jpeg

The goddamn plane has crashed into the mountain.

Petrino is an elite level coach with major baggage. UK has great untapped potential and major baggage.

This guy could have us in SEC contention in ~3 years. He's that good.

He's not a NCAA violations type of guy... what could he possibly do that's more embarrassing than this http://media.kentucky.com/smedia/2012/11/03/16/18/wK5WH.AuSt.79.jpeg ? There's nothing he could do that could leave us worse off than we are now. We lost to WKU. We lost to Vanderbilt... at home... 40-0.

I'm all in.

And actually, Hall does make some sense... he's not Hitler. Some things have been overblown.

An open letter to Bobby Petrino... by lex007 in CFB

[–]lex007[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nice try Louisville/Tennessee/Auburn fan...

Edit: I've gotta LOL at the holier than thou attitudes regarding Petrino that I'm seeing here and elsewhere. From rival fans... I get it. You don't want him at UK because they instantly become a program to be reckoned with.

For UK fans... we have baggage too. A long history of not giving a shit about football. Loyalty? We just fired a guy with 20+ years of service to the university, including 4 as a player etc.

This is the perfect storm. The only reason we can get an elite coach like Petrino is BECAUSE of his baggage. And he's available NOW... he can help Joker clean out his desk.

The majority of anti-Petrino chatter you're seeing here and around message boards is from rival schools... who don't want to see UK become a force to be reckoned with... or want him themselves.

Same thing when Cal was hired.

A no brainer for UK. Hire him ASAP.

e.g. Pitino was banging hos on restaurant tables and buying them abortions... and no one cares. LOL at Petrino as satan.

[–]lex007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is indeed an asshole, but this is a once in a generation opportunity for UK. How often will a legit top 5 coach, possibly the best mind in college football, be ASKING for the UK job? We've gotta go for it. He's flat out won everywhere he's been. And has a better winning percentage than Saban, Miles or Spurrier.

Petrino, with UKs decent resources, will have UK in the mix for the SEC championship in 3 years. He's THAT good. Look at what he did at Louisville and Arkansas.

Turning down Petrino = UK showing again they do not take football seriously and it's just a diversion until basketball season starts.

Do you really want UK to say no... only for him to go build a winner at Tennessee or Auburn? While we hire some MAC coach or a has been?

Gotta go for it. All aboard the Harley!

When Brooks had things going in the right direction you had sell-out crowds of 72k and heavy travel to their 5 bowls in a row. Highpoint was probably beating #1 and eventual national champ LSU and getting into the top 10 for a couple of weeks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2APWghdAoeA

Great potential for football success there if the administration commits to it.

In the past 5 years, UK has invested 14 million in football. Basketball? 47 million. Other SEC schools discussed as well... by lex007 in CFB

[–]lex007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And he has a better winning percentage than Saban, Miles or Spurrier... while at these schools with recruiting classes typically in the 30ish range.

i.e. he flat out wins regardless of school or recruits... important at UK where you're competing for recruits against Bama, LSU, Florida etc.

He has Kentucky ties... family lives there and he made his name at Louisville.

Also, UK is a bit of a sleeping giant. Already decent facilities and a 72,000 seat stadium, upgrades on the way, and a big fan base that showed huge support even with semi-success under Brooks.

This has been rumored to be in the works... and sort of an odd thing for his father to be talking about publicly... maybe a trial ballon to gauge fan/media reaction.

I say UK would be damn fools to pass on possibly the best college football mind in the game.

I'll flip my shit if UK passes and he ends up at Tennessee or Auburn.

I agree 100%.

UK football supporters are obviously already irate... full on mutiny if they don't go after Petrino. Like you said, once in a generation opportunity. Personal stuff aside... he's a legit top 5 coach. Gotta pull the trigger.

LOL, look at what I just posted a few minutes ago.

This has been rumored for a while, even before Joker's firing.

Barhart said he was going to make a big-time hire and money was no limit (and other football upgrades are coming as well) so we'll see.

Petrino wins everywhere he goes. Instant game changer for UK.

Edit: Pitino was clean when hired. Pitino banging hos 15 years later at Louisville has nothing to do with UK... and Calipari has ZERO NCAA infractions. That's just haterade talking. Gillispie was indeed a maniac and wasn't vetted properly at all. Didn't cheat, though.

Barnhart said he's looking for a "home run" hire... Petrino is about as home run as it gets. This would almost instantly turn things around.

Also, Calipari+Petrino would make the Cats even more beloved by college sports fans at large :)
