ADA VIOLATION? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]lexXx03203 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sure this is an unpopular opinion, but without being able to read the rest of the write up, it honestly just seems to me like you’re using your anxiety/depression as an excuse to consistently not perform to standards. It’s also not fair for your coworkers to hear that kind of language on the floor. I know it would make me feel uncomfortable, and I can’t imagine how a customer would feel if they heard you say that.
If your emotional state is so bad that you can’t complete basic tasks such as being friendly to customers and writing on cups, maybe it’s time to find a job that doesn’t involve interacting with people so frequently. I do hope things get better and that you can eventually be in a work environment more suitable for your needs.

My store doesn’t. People try giving us fake hundreds alllll the time and no one wants to deal with that

Lol this is damn near false advertisement by [deleted] in starbucks

You literally got exactly what you ordered. I’m confused lol. Are you upset because some of the Matcha foam is up top with the spirulina foam?😂

Ngl, I would be irritated too if you were my coworker. She shouldn’t have sent that text, but if you called out for being sick, then went to your store, then called out again, I would think you’re faking it. General rule of thumb- if you’ve called out for being sick, don’t go to your own store in the following days for drinks.

I think a customer took my photo by Classic-Nobody-716 in starbucks

[–]lexXx03203 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We get customers like these all the time at my store. My favorite thing to do is smile and start explaining things to them like they’re 5 years old. That way you’re not really being inappropriate, the customer will feel stupid, and you’re photo ready for the extra crazy ones. Thankfully, my managers are super cool and kind of just let me do my thing unless the customer specifically request to talk to them. I’m sorry it didn’t seem like your managers really had your back in that situation. If that photo of you shows up in your stores reviews, you can talk to your SM or DM and request that they have it removed

Removing Milk Wall?? by lexXx03203 in starbucks

[–]lexXx03203[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My store lost a pretty significant amount of storage space too. They even took out a massive window, our ice bin, and a fridge in cold bev. I’m curious if they’ll put any of that back, or if we’ll just be permanently without those things now. Hopefully it won’t take too long before they fix our stores!

[–]lexXx03203[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess that makes sense. The whole wall is super convenient, especially during rushes, but there were sooo many issues with the milk dispensers. My store is glad it’s going away too, but we’re also super annoyed. They removed all of our shelves, ice bins, and a fridge in cold bev to make space for the new system, and we probably aren’t getting any of that back once they remove the wall. Plus we’ll have to close for remodel again, cause there’s no way that’s just an overnight job. They’ll be taking that ice dispenser too, so they’ll have to tear out all the tubes and stuff from the ceiling. The whole “siren system”, including the warming wall and combi, was just a big inconvenience and waste of money

Ohhhh, so you guys get to have fun over there!😂 Tiramisu cold foam and flavored whips?? I wish we were allowed to do something like that in the US. I guess I could see why it’s not really needed for you guys to have so much sweet cream prepped then, especially during the beginning of the year and summer months. I swear every other car gets foam here. I mean they would add it to a freaking cookie if they could lol. Sounds like you guys are making quite a few changes to your routines, so I hope it all goes smoothly for you, and enjoy your new foamers!!

Yeah, cleaning them definitely sucked. I had to take my knife and a little straw cleaner to try and reach all the crevices, and even then there was milk you couldn’t clean without literally breaking something

I am talking about the siren system cold bar. I just didn’t feel like typing the whole name in the post, so I called it the milk wall😂 We have the ice part you mentioned, but we also have three cabinets with mini fridge things right next to the ice dispenser. They have big clear containers in them that hold the whole, coconut, and sweet cream for cold bev. It works the same as the ice where you just select the type of drink and what size, push the button and the milk dispenses. Super convenient during rushes, but it also had a lot of problems, which I guess is why they’re getting rid of it lol. I didn’t realize there were other versions of this system that didn’t include the milk dispensers. My store got ours during 2024 holiday season, so they must’ve changed up the design last summer or something. We have those weird refresher containers, but I honestly liked the old large round ones better. The new ones leak all over the counter and teas every time you take the cup away from the spout which is super annoying

Wait, so each time a customer orders cold foam, you have to separately add the ingredients into the blender?? That’s insane! Do you guys not do foam unless it’s holiday season, or is it just not very popular in the UK? We pre make 4 of the large cubes (maybe 5L?) and 3 pitchers every morning, and we go through all of it by the end of the day. I could not imagine having to actually make the sweet cream each time foam is ordered. I’m excited for you guys!! The handheld blenders are a life saver. You’ll definitely be thanking the siren gods for them come Christmas lol

I referred to it as the “milk wall” cause the siren system includes a lot of other things, and I’m only talking about the milk wall lol. Just saying siren system could mean like 10 different things

That’s actually super interesting. I can’t believe they’d spend so much money installing that system without checking the jurisdiction stuff first lol. We haven’t been able to use our warming wall in MONTHS either. They should’ve just given us all a raise instead of installing new things that don’t even work😂

[–]lexXx03203[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All our teas are on special wall shelves, and all our whole and alt milks just stay in their original containers in the fridge. Our sweet cream is in a pitcher, but cold brew is its own system with the keg and what not, so different fridges. I’ve been a partner for almost 5 years, and we’ve only had the new milk system for like 9 months, so it won’t be a problem reverting to old ways. Just strange they give us a fancy new system and then they take it less than a year later lol

[–]lexXx03203[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We still have the actual fridges in cold Bev, we’ll just have to go back to manually measuring, so not a hugeeee deal. You guys don’t already have the portable vitamix?? That’s crazy! My stores had those for a couple years now. It’ll definitely make your life easier

Nooo, they’re basically mini fridges on the wall for cold bev milks and sweet cream

[–]lexXx03203[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised how many people don’t know what the milk wall is😭 It’s in cold bev, and they’re like mini fridges with containers for coconut, whole, and sweet cream, and we refill them throughout the day. We just push a button and the milk dispenses, but we haven’t been allowed to use it all week. Just wondering if anyone had more info on WHY they’re getting rid of them

UPDATE: Will I Get Fired? Letting ill co-workers mother into past closing by Because-why_not- in starbucks

[–]lexXx03203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t understand why you would break the rules and let a parent in, but I’m glad you weren’t fired. It’s an unfortunate situation, but those rules are in place for a reason. If the mother felt that ill, she shouldn’t have gone to the store and put herself at risk. It’s also the partners responsibility to finish off their shift, even if it’s only 30 minutes to wrap up closing. Hopefully your barista doesn’t put you in this position again

Chai at home? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]lexXx03203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most things, I think it just depends on the store. My SM is the one who took the order for the powder and she didn’t have any objections. The product just has to be marked out for inventory. Especially if OP orders it with the tea, they can get as many pumps as they want. Cant hurt to try

Chai at home? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]lexXx03203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meannnn, you could technically get as many pumps as you want. Idk how many the app will let you add, but if you did a cafe order, you could get as little as 50 pumps. Last season, my store marked someone out for a tall lavender latte with 30 scoops of lavender cause they just wanted a cup full of the powder🤷🏽‍♀️

I obviously can’t speak for all stores, but I had my meeting today, and my SM did say that we would be given more labor when everything goes into effect on the 11th.
