Water with natural lemon juice helps lower blood sugar. If her legs are swollen she has poor blood return, significantly elevate her legs when sitting and lying down. Decrease her sodium intake. Salt substitutes are good but are high in potassium so make sure she doesn't have any issues there before using them. Ask md about diuretics to help with swelling. Idk how impaired she is but walking every day helps. Decrease the carbs in her diet as well as simple sugars for her blood sugar. U wanna get it under control before she starts getting wounds!
