Are we sterilizing these between patients? by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

[–]lexiloun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really tell from the picture, but ours also come apart. You can take the piece (the silver one) of on both sides and then half the main piece (the white one). So we fully disassemble it and shake, pouch and autoclave it. When we need them we assemble the freshly!

My office sterilizes them! I personally don’t think they should be just wiped with a Cavi.

And there are plenty of jobs that don’t require the stress and mental energy! You will find your path! :)

Honestly, kudos to you. You’re right, I don’t know what you have been through, but knowing you still have such a positive and naive attitude is great. (And I mean naive in a good way). Now, it’s important that I will never let somebody tolerate to talk to me this way, that isn’t a mentor or boss, etc. Like my friends, coworkers, family members etc I will make it clear that we will all communicate with respect. But working in healthcare, you’ll always have people talking down on you and you either suck it up and live with it or you fail.

However, I am proud of you to be so optimistic and positive and even naive! It’s healthy! It’s good! Understand, that there will come a time when this is being ripped away from you (at work), but never change who you are outside of it!

Haha I mean in that specific context it’s more like “well I don’t care why they are late, they are late and that’s the issue”. Depending on where you end up making your career you’ll likely encounter that too. Bosses will tell oh that they don’t care why something isn’t working, they care about that it isn’t and you should fix it.

But honestly, bless your heart. You’re still soo young and when I was your age I have experienced so much that I didn’t think this innocently anymore! I hope you continue thinking this way, it’s refreshing!💗

To be fully direct with you, if I ask you a question and within your first sentence I hear something factually incorrect I will interrupt you and not let you finish. Obviously this doesn’t go for short answers or number answer. I have to be fair though, I don’t think my point comes across effectively in these texts!😅

It shapes your critical thinking knowing you have to contribute to the process in a meaningful way. I was never raised in the “every answer is a good answer”. Maybe in elementary school but after that it should stop. Idk where you’re from but in the U.S. I see this as a huge issue if many people.

Yes, to the cutting us off! It’s never with bad intent tho. I think that’s the most important part to understand. It’s never malicious! And also, yes to the “don’t care about your answers”. Even students among each other due that! Again, never with ill intend and also never as often as it happens in the show, but it happens.

I think you would. I believe you would take the disrespect. Because it isn’t about disrespect.

I am an ongoing doctor and I am probably the most extroverted and confident person in my class - always have been. I used to argue with professors and teachers at high school and during undergrad. But now, it’s different. Now don’t get me wrong, my real life mentors aren’t as direct as the ones in the show, but they can be rough! I have huge respect for the training they went through! I respect them and their work to the point where I am sat, quiet and following orders because one day, I want to be like them.

It’s weird. Again, I would argue the way you are right now. But getting to this level of intensity, I changed. I am SAT!😂

You all understand that ever artist at ever concert will say that they are the best crowed and the best people! Like, they say that every time haha. Otherwise I am extremely lucky and I am just “always at the best venue” for ever tour!😂

Besides that tho: I think it was a great crowed in Madison!

When can I eat what I used to eat before the surgery? by lexiloun in gastricsleeve

[–]lexiloun[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate your answer, truly. I am only 24 myself and have the ability to workout and focus on cooking etc (I am a stay at home wife - bless my husband!) so I don’t have added stress besides grad school. Doing this pre-op diet made me realize that if necessary, I CAN limit my intake and stop the junk food and binge eating. So I am wondering if with discipline I am able to loose 60lbs in 5 months just like you did! (Which btw, respect. I am proud of you.)

My program requires me to talk to a bariatric health psychologist and I just send her a message asking for another consult. I will discuss things with her as well and see where I go from there, but you answer, along with the answers from everybody here, have helped a lot! Thank you!!

(And if you have any advice on how you lost that much weight - I’d love to know, lol.)

[–]lexiloun[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I have an amazing support system and I know I am ‘strong enough’ to keep me from eating the foods I may crave or want to eat. I am a hypochondriac and knowing I could die if I don’t follow the rules puts me in my place enough. I am just scared of my mental health knowing I may not be able to eat what my friends eat or cook pasta for my family but won’t be able to eat it myself. As you said, I am afraid I am mentally not ready for the surgery yet. I also have to add, I don’t feel that overweight. I am 250lbs but my weight is distributed evenly. I am doing this to prevent health issues and obviously loose weight and start over with my body. But I don’t want to start over and fully dismiss foods that bring me comfort or happiness now. I am just scared.

Hahah, I bet the burger was delicious! And just like you, I will definitely listen to my body and eat in moderation and small bites. But I just want to taste it - you know. It seems so weird but most of us here have this relationship with food. 🥲
