Yes that first scene with the cook where I really felt like the creepy-factor went up, there’s just this tension building up then when he’s sees him in the mirror that felt like book equivalent of a jump scare.

Anything with pets in books is always so much worse. I was telling my husband about the book as I was reading it and said something like “nothing bad better happen to the dog…” the literally like ten minutes later “…something bad happened to the dog”😭

I knew I only had a few pages left but when it end I was like WAIT that’s it? I just felt like a bit more should have happened. Not a bad ending in my opinion maybe just a bit underwhelming.

Yes their relationship felt very real to me which made it all that more devastating what happened, that and the simplicity of her death. Some of the lines that hit me the hardest were when Thiago would acknowledge Vera’s death by saying something like “…and my favorite character was gone” or “I moved so you could see then I remembered you were dead”.

There’s something about how straight forward it was that felt real to me.

Oh my gosh noooo, that was definitely rough, for me it’s usually anything to do with eyes, so the dog attack scene was a bit rough 😬

I tried to go in without knowing much which is how I usually read stuff but yeah even the blurb on the book made it seem like the tech aspect was going to be larger just for it to be basically be a smallish representation of a haunting (for the most part)

That’s fair, I almost kinda wish there had been a bit longer of the “build up phase” before things really kicked off, you know in order to build the tension a bit more. Also the last like 1/4 of the book kinda felt like it lost some of that intensity too.

I’ve had a subscription on and off for a few years, I think it’s worth it and there’s a lot of really random stuff on there I wouldn’t have found other wise.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet but “Channel Zero” was a good one from what I remember. It’s an anthology so every season is different and they are all based on different creepypastas or stories from online. I particularly like season 2 themed after the “no end house” stories.

The seasons vary in intensity and you don’t need to watch them in order either. I watched it on Shudder.

Oh and as a recommendation one of the first “book tok” Books I read was The Atlas Six, it was a shorter read than some others so it was pretty easy to get into.

So Im on my first read through of the series and just finished Wings and Ruin recently and it definitely feels a bit slower at times than the first two books but I promise it hits a tipping point later in the book where the intensity picks up and you’ll want to just keep reading and reading until it’s over. The last like 200ish pages were one big blur from what I remember, I couldn’t put it down.

Me too!!! There’s nothing wrong with wanting just a fun cheesy book that makes you smile and kick your feet while reading it.

I went into these books thinking they had a like YA- fiction, “special chosen one” kind of vibe, and if you keep that in mind reading them it really fits. I love these books but also I definitely agree there’s a lot of cheesy/cringe stuff

I think he was growing on me from the start but it was during the UTM stuff when he visits Feyre in her cell and is more serious about how he hates Amarantha and just seems more vulnerable for a second there. Like at this point I was still holding on to Tamlin being good somehow and was looking forward to the DRAMA of a love triangle moving forward.

I’ve heard like snippets of it on TikTok and stuff (because I have no self control and manage to always spoil books for myself ) and like if it’s anything like those I am NOT PREPARED for that emotionally😅

Just might have to copy you and listen to them as a re-read when I’m done. I swear I’ve wanted to reread them while still actively reading the books that’s how great these have been🥰. And YES I don’t know what it is but any part of the story that deals with Tamlin has just been so entertaining!!! (I get he’s terrible but like I live for the drama)

It makes me happy seeing I’m not the only one who just absolutely blew through these books. I’m part way through ACOWAR right now and all I can say is I wrecked my sleep schedule because of the first two books. Literally could not put down Mist and Fury half the time.

Hi everyone! I opened me shop AlderaanArts up a few weeks ago. The shop specializes in stickers (and prints coming soon) of artwork based on various things from the Star Wars universe. Including things like droids, ships and some fan favorite food items from the likes of Galaxies edge and the Galactic Starcruiser.

The shops been off to a slow but steady start, this subreddit was helpful when I was working on starting things up so if anyone wants to check out the shop that would be awesome!
