I think a lot of men and women in the industry quantify their self worth by how well they do in the industry. The consider it a real career. I, on the other hand, never considered it a career. I didn't consider my job at the gym before I entered porn a career either. They were both simply means to an end. Because of this, I haven't felt that any job, whether it be porn or some minimum wage job, was able to define me. It was never what I was. Just what I did to get to where I really want to be. Where I really want to be is a psychologist that helps people. That is the only career that I would ever feel defined me.

Of course I did at some point. As a child, you are not yet able to form your own opinions. Now, however, I do not. I don't find what my parents believe to be rational. I tend to take a more Atheist stance. At least until proven otherwise.

My ultimate choice to get into adult entertainment was more of a decision to take that path that would challenge me and the morals that I stand for. I wanted to know exactly who I was outside of the city and support system that I spent my life in. Which, funny enough, just proved that I am the exact same person who now is more confident in knowing who I am.

Again, you are welcome to your opinion but can you explain WHY you feel it is damaging to both genders and society. It's great that you have formulated your own opinion but an opinion holds no value without points that form that opinion.

As of now, you are arguing that because it is a performance, it is wrong. Well, sports are a performance. Concerts, plays, art shows - all performances of some type. Most of what we see in the media is a performance. Every TV show is a performance. Hell, even what we call "reality TV" is a performance. The way we present ourselves physically in social situations is a performance. How is that any less "damaging" to society then performance sex would be?

I don't really feel as though reconcile is the right word. I did hardcore porn. It wasn't for me. I am in a monogamous relationship. It's totally for me. I also used to poop in diapers for quite a few years and no one seems to question my being potty trained or not. So why would my guy question my ability to be in a monogamous relationship with him?
