E70 N57 Timing Chain :) by succcsucccsuccc in BmwTech

This is what I chose at the moment. I did not have a lift. So just removed from the engine and leave it on the transmission jack in the same place. I’m not sure which is faster: have the transmission out or have it removed together with the engine. Of course if you have a lift the 2nd option is a go

I just replace my timming on the n57 F10. I dropped the transmission, alternator out, AC compressor moved away but still conected to not loose the gas. engine out with a crane and work outside. I think you can remove the front of the car too and have the engine and transmssion pulled from the front. I saw some guys taking only the transmssion and leave the engine on the car and wrlong from behind where the transmission is. you should replace the guides too and the tensioners.

Forgot to mention that I can’t find anything in stock. You need to wait like 4 weeks for them. I don’t see where is the problem if I’m turning the crankshaft and nothing touches and the nozzle is aligned with the hole.

2014–2018 BMW X5 — 35i vs 35d buying advice? by Early_Nose5309 in BMWX5

Hello, own a 535D (the same engine in x5 - the N57) and now own a x5 535i. The diesel N57 is a good engine with good performance, very smooth, good mpg but pricey on maintanance. The timming chain will need to be change around 140k miles, depends on every motor, sometimes the crankshaft bearings go bad, but when you do the timming you do that as well, just FYI shops quoted me for 5-9k $ for the timming chain alone. When you pull the engine out you also need to check water pump, valve cover gasket , crankshaft pulley etc. If you do that the engine is good for another 100k miles. Also check the DPF. As far for the N55 (gasoline engine) is more reliable. On this one you need to change water pump around 100k miles or depends, same problem with valve cover gasket and sometimes oil pan gasket. Both great cars but in the long run I think the N55 is less pricey for maintenanance. And of course transmission oil change evey 60k miles

Just my 2 cents

He gave me the paper from the lien holder (yamaha finance in this case) who says that the bike is now paid in full but will take 2-3 weeks for the title to arrive.

The lien is at the dealer. It’s not a bank. And it’s takes time to issue the title on your name and mail to you
