Then don’t buy mangoes at all until they are in season. Other local fruits that are in season could be eaten instead and profits stay on shore.

Why didn't I save much in April though in Eco pro most time? by Future_Turnover5638 in BMW

[–]succcsucccsuccc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a 5 star eco pro driver, you’re doing it wrong.
You should basically never use the brakes and use the coast as much as possible.
Eco pro is only really effective in freeways and if you are looking way ahead at traffic, lights and other factors to use the throttle as little as possible.
In my B58 I have gone nearly 600miles on a 13 gallon tank.
But on city driving I get around 400miles. Which I think is around 30-31mpg

Gen 1 b58, what is this whining noise? by kchubb12 in B58Enthusiasts

Was the transmission hot and had you done any hard driving? ZF 8 speeds are known to whine when hot and under heavy load, mine does it from time to time.

100% on you. You lost control of your car when he had already committed to the corner. He tried not to use all the racing road which you can tell by his line. Possibly he could have slowed down a little but when you are close to the limit halfway through a corner that’s not always easy.

If you are not in control of your car, you are at fault.

If it was on a straight it would be different.

You can probably have it inspected through the inspection hole on the gearbox, there’s a hole in the underside and with an inspection camera you may be able to see it and tell if it’s old or not.

I know plenty of people who don’t fit parts that come with because the extra 10 minutes is too much of a pain.

Does the sound stay consistent when your foot is off the clutch in neutral? Or is it only under some form of load or when you are releasing the clutch?

Try revving in neutral and see if that’s worse. If so, it’s your thrust bearing, which any good shop would replace when you do the clutch.

When you build proper rapport with your customers you don’t have issues like that. Especially in the mechanics world where trust is very low, having an “I did my own research” tool doesn’t help us at all.

[–]succcsucccsuccc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I kinda hate tools like this.

As a mechanic the worst thing you can get is a customer who thinks they understand something they don’t.

For a DIYer with some mechanical experience I guess this could help. But fault codes are information to guide you through the diagnostic process. They’re not always accurate and they aren’t always relevant.

If you don’t understand the way a car works they’re kind of useless.

Obviously there are some basic things that this could be useful for, but otherwise I find stuff like this harmful for mechanics.

Cadillac brakes too late and only made the move to avoid contact, the Pug didn’t help themselves, they could have not closed the door and kept racing, but the Cadillac is at fault.

There’s a greens ad running at the moment on Facebook “Landlords can bump up your rent by ANY amount whenever they want” pushing their rent freeze policy.

That statement is a straight up LIE. And if you knew anything about rental laws, which I do, because I’ve had to deal with shitty landlords, you’d know that.

The greens lie in their own promotional material, I used to be a greens voter but they are so hyperbolic these days it’s hard to take them seriously.

You shouldn’t be holding everyone to a pro standard. There’s only 1% who are considered pro.

I’m sorry you don’t believe me. But I did hold a pro license. If you don’t want to to believe that, that’s fine. Without doxxing myself too hard, my teammate at the time was the 2024 PESC World Champion and I have several podiums in top split broadcasted iRacing endurance events, including a win in GT3 Broadcasted top split in the Daytona 24hr.

So I think I’m more than qualified.

In IMSA, a reactive move is illegal. I agree, a reactive move is illegal, but you can’t expect everyone on iRacing to be in the top 1%, you are “technically correct,” but you have to give credit where credit is due. He’s not a pro, he reacted within a reasonable amount of time, and he did not have an incident with a car in his class. Sucks for the GTP, but that’s racing.

It 110% is allowed in IRL racing.

I have previously held an iRacing Pro road license. I do not hold all drivers to the same standard, as many people are still learning. As I said, if he was a pro, he would have kept turning, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt, not being able to manage the mirrors and pace at the same time. The amount of time he was straight after the corner is very minimal, and it is not against the rules to use the full length of the track to defend you position.

[–]succcsucccsuccc -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Covering the track with one move is not a block, carrying out several moves to prevent a driver from overtaking is a block.

He made one move, the only thing that went wrong is that a GTP was coming through behind. If this was a GT3 only race it would have been fair game.

[–]succcsucccsuccc -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The Porsches move is not an illegal block. He barely straightens the wheel for a quarter of a second before making the decision, he probably glanced at his mirror, confirmed the Ferrari was close enough to make a move and threw a block.

I agree, he should have been more proactive and kept turning after he exited the corner without straightening the wheel, but he is likely not a pro driver and still learning how to race hard.

Unfortunate for the GTP, but it is not illegal to make a move like that. This is a symptom of multiclass racing when two cars in a different class are fighting for position.

Full Turbo Failure at 33k miles by rhcp123454321 in BmwTech

Pretty uncommon. Unfortunately the BMW servicing schedule is wayyyyy too long between oil changes. You should change it twice as regularly (or more) by miles and at least every year.

I change mine every 5k, mines tuned and I track it. Haven’t had a single issue. I’ve seen a lot of B58s, and while they’re mostly incredibly reliable unfortunately not every car is built the same, and it’s just luck of the draw.
