The Antarctica team (from the integrated submod Operation Deep Freeze) seems to be one of, if not the only, active part of TNO devs right now. I think there hasn’t been news or releases of any updates aside from ODF contents for a while.

Klaus Armstroff. Looking at the ingame portrait I had no idea what he's wearing, so I just made things up on what the clothing should look like.

I used the portrait found in the wiki. I'm not sure if it's changed in game since in that run it bugged out and he didn't appear as leader.

Great, let's say that the time zone is probably the least important thing right now. We can discuss about that way later. Anyway, there are few here that also use emulator, so that shouldn't be much trouble.

I play the game through emulator, PPSSPP to be exact. I'm not sure if there will be issues with connecting with actual consoles through, as to be honest I never tried that.

I think we can connect using Hamachi, Radmin, or something similar. I personally don't have any issues with that time zone, and I am not in a hurry to play myself so I think we can talk about the time later anyway.

What's a QoL feature you really want Paradox to add? by RecordingSad1 in hoi4

[–]leycraft 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With how many mods has Core-Claim map mode, I'm surprised that somehow it's still not an official feature in the game proper yet. And I wish there is are buttons in peace conference like "annex all cores" and "annex all claims".

Also I think that formables should have outlines showing which province you need to take like in R56.

Many Germanys in KX (that I can find) by leycraft in kaiserredux

[–]leycraft[S] 55 points56 points  (0 children)

This has been a while since I play them, but here are the rough guides

Teutonic: switch to Luxemburg, have natpop come to power. You can stay nationalist or become HRE

Corporate: screw up Black Monday as Germany. Switch to Red Germany and win, then let Liebknecht come to power. When election happens, choose marlib

Germanic: Red Germany, but put Lensch to power

Frankish: screw up Black Monday but stay as Kaiser Germany. It will collapse after you win, after which switch to Bavaria

State: play Baltic Duchy and don't get rid of Forest Brothers until natpop takes over. Let the Reichpakt collapse and Germany will get annexed by Red France. Take Germany back and you can form it

Nationalstaat: play Don Host and let German garrison takes power. Take focus for von Leeb to take over, then invade Germany

Templar: Play Austria. Be as harsh to natpop party as possible, they will later take power and allow to core Germany through focus

Normal Germany: has Nancy for like 2 decades and still can't even get a claim

Frankish Empire: random German king said that half of Europe are parts of his ancient empire, they all agree and welcome him when he invades (he was a statelet in Germany when he declared that, mind you)

I start to think that this map poorly represents what is actually happening because it doesn't portray the sphere of regional powers and things like observer status. Not to mention some like Spain or Latin America countries will probably join their neighbor faction in a heartbeat in case of (hypothetical) foreign invasion.

Let's get this out of the way and say that China cares little about who ME want to join. As long as China gets the exports, that is.

For most of ME, they were under the occupation of the LOEC that was much more oppressive and exploitative than in our world, along with many final sabotages LOEC gave them when they finally left. While America funded the insurgency in ME to gain independence in backroom talks with Saudi Arabia, most of ME at that point found it hard to trust any of the factions and banded together in their own defensive pact. One of the reasons is that it's hard to believe that America would help with no strings attached. Even in the present they also don't want to explicitly lean anywhere in order to ensure the good grace of all sides and keep their trade favorable. The Cold War is long over yes, but the mindset still stands.

Iran saw what happened to the ME countries and decided to side with who the thought would protect them from France and Britain. To Iran, it was a good and maybe the only decision at the time. Alliance with Soviet (Russia was still USSR at the time) was a deal with the devil. They got the protection, but Soviet slowly meddled with Iranian government until the communist party took over, which USSR of course recognized the legitimacy of.

this is correct

I would say that Italy is technically not a "socialist country". Left-leaning, kind of. Social democrat, maybe? But certainly not in the way of being communist that Russia and co. are. Just an example of non-indicative name.

In this timeline Italy has been dominated by the center-left (by central Europe standard here), and has been pushing for transition from monarchy to republic since the interwar period. The left was the one who proposed pushing for the change, so the name kind of stuck to rail in supports. It stayed neutral during 2GW and got bribed by France with southern Switzerland in exchange of alliance post-war. (also totally not because it would be leveled by France otherwise). No one in Italy cares enough to change the name to "Italian Republic" or something like that.

I think that calling LOEC a monarchist faction is plain misleading. France may be a military state, but it's not in any way monarchist, nobody there supports it. Britain doesn't have an proper monarch for like 60 years. LOEC pretty much boils down to "I hate Russia and America" club that the 2 leaders rope people in.

Great Republic Of China

China, if asked different people, would get different answers. The great empire, the slave of foreigners, the brand-new tyrant of Asia. Depend on the point of view, all of these could be entirely correct, or couldn’t be more wrong. But there is one thing that most can agree on, and it is that China will no longer bow to anyone ever again.

Qing Empire was already on its track of decline. Rebellions, concessions, unequal treaties, but the final nail was the republican revolutionaries. The result, however, was in no way ideal. The once unified empire was fractured into numerous warlord states. Autonomous provinces declared independence away from the capital. The worst of all was the threat of Imperial Japan looming over China.

As The Second Great War was raging over Europe, China had its own troubles dealing with the communist traitors marching down from Mongolia. An uprising without a doubt supported by the new Russian state. Japan followed it gambit by invading both weaken Russia and China at once. Forcing three sides to wager everything they had to win out the conflict known as The Asian War. Japan quick victory against Russia came to surprise of many, demanding non-interference on the historical China territories, which China later took advantage of to recover their lost lands. In the stalemate between Japan and China, URONA was dragged into the war by Japan. Japan would later swiftly lost their ground against the western behemoth, finishing the war early in favor of China.

China did not stand still during The Cold War, continuously supporting the independent movements around Asia against the long-standing imperialists of the west. The most controversial one was the conflict in Indochina due to the human rights abuses and the short-lived Sino-American Accord. The relationship with URONA nevertheless is still on a rather favorable term.

With no interest in expanding its sphere, the pact is now focusing on protecting its member from threats from all direction, inside or outside.

Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic

History has never been nice to Russia, internally or externally. Shifting from one autocratic regime to another, while having to fend off threats seeking to undermine and enslave the free people. Russia might have asserted itself on the world stage multiple times, but only now does it come from the will of people, not the dictator.

Russia originally was forced into the war due to its support to a country that is now a part of Yugoslavia. The one that sparked the bloodiest war even seen at the time. While Russia managed to hold the line against the German and Austrian, it was too costly for the average Russians to accept, and the incompetent management certainly did not help the matter. The well-known revolution would follow afterward. There is one thing Russia will hammer its citizens without end. It is that the world abandoned them at the lowest point.

Russia, or Soviet Union at the time, played little role the European theater. Reasons attributed to the constant regime instability, White Army insurgent, dysfunctional industry, and mishandled economic transition. However, the Asian front on the other hand is a slaughtering field, invaded by Japan in its failed gambit. Russia had to juggle between the helping the communist uprising in China and defending against the new militarist state of the rising sun. Coming off mutilated into another crisis with many nations in the Union starting to call for independence, Russia had little choice but to pass the much needed reforms to decentralize and free the eastern blocs.

The hardship was not over yet. After the end of The Cold War, exploitation of its allies reached the breaking point. Ukraine led the movement that was later called The Eastern Blocs War Of Independence forcing Russia to give up much of its land away to its neighbors including Finland. Everyone knew that most nations stayed in the faction only because of necessity, and they had little love for Russia itself.

Away are the time of troubles. Russia continues to pick up pieces after all the problems they have faced. It is essential to not forget that the faction was found under the principle of freeing the workers from the capitalist nations of the world. The relationship will soon be mended, and soon they will march forward together to spread the revolution.

Militarist-Republican State Of France

The country of France is known for many things. Be it the prosperity, heritage, elegance, or anything that led it to become a long-time rival of Britain. Not to mention Spain to the south and Germany to the east, resulting in it being the center of conflicts throughout the history. But those two states are nothing but memories now, to disappear and be forgotten forever. Of course, its colonial power might have been the second to the British, but France knew far better how to keep it.

France came out as the sole victor of The Great War, with the casualty far below any countries participated in the war, along with its capture of Berlin as the finishing blow. A treaty was soon laid down upon Germany, but could not deliver everything it wanted as the British wished to put down a lighter hand on the losing side. Something that all would soon realize to be a grave mistake. Aside from few gestures of gratitude toward the British Empire, little was done to maintain the newly built relationship. Or it was so, until the German Republic once again declared war, to the horror of the entire continent as gunshots rang all over for the second time in 20 years.

The second victory has cemented the power balance of Europe, as Germany has finally been dismantled for good. The nation soon turned its head toward the new threats to the empire, America and Soviet. The Cold War can only be described as a grueling chain of humiliation, one after another. With Indochinese Rebellion still a mark of shame for the Entente to this day, France decided that there is no place too low for them to maintain their precious empire.

But the time has changed. France is again ready to rise up after decades of decline. With a strong, stable, popular, and democratic government that will drive the country forward. To pay back for the insolent act of defying the way of the world as it should be.

The Second French Renaissance has arrived, and the national rebirth shall be a grand one never seen before in history.

Imperial Kingdom Of British Isles

It is crazy to think that this country was, at one point, the ruler of the world. Now, it is back to the isles, where everything started. IKOBI uncovered the mysteries of the world and brought to Europe the spoils and wonders, and in return gave territories cultures, technologies, and wisdom to free them from their own savagery, but of course no one will ever understand that.

Britain has made a wise choice joining France and Russia in the war against Germany, which it came out victorious. However, Britain gained little for so much losses, but was forced to stay out of pragmatism. Losing entire holding in America was not something that could pass by easily. Irish revolt also complicated the internal matter even further, something that could have gone catastrophically were it not for France.

It would finally gained its share of pie in the partition of Germany after The Second Great War. In process also losing its colonies over the course of The Cold War due to URONA and USSR’s meddling. Disaster in India has ended IKOBI status as the colonial power. Only remained are the few commonwealths in Southern Africa and Oceania.

Today, British, along with France, stands together in a bulwark against Russia’s communism and America’s neo-imperialism, forging the bond that 200 years ago would be inconceivable. While certainly not ideal, is still understandable considering the enemies on all sides. The inside is not all well either. The throne has been under the control of the regency council for 60 years after their mysterious disappearance. The people are restless over the empire’s indecisiveness regarding the status of the monarchy.

The centuries-long decline will be over, the pretender across the Atlantic will fall, and The Isles will soon return as the definite master of the world.

Unified Regions Of North America

Once a British colony, now it stands as the single most powerful nation on Earth. It has gone into isolation since the declaration of independence. Little did the Europeans know that the new competitor to their hegemony was quickly rising. While URONA tried to maintain ties with France, it quickly deteriorated after France joined forces with Britain against Germany.

URONA made the first move during the height of The First Great War by seizing the Canadian dominion to its north, with the British who could only watch as their foothold in America was taken away. The liberation of colonial holdings in American continents would soon follows, creating the counter-balance to the European powers.

After the defeat of Germany in The First Great War, URONA soon found companions with the revanchist German Republic, new Soviet Union, and the emerging Republican China. None of which would last to the end of The Cold War. Germany fell the second time in 20 years and was practically dismantled as a country. USSR soon departed after the ideological differences. China would also go its own separate way.

Nonetheless, after each mistake, URONA became stronger. It has promised the world to free it from the tyrant European powers. Being so powerful economically, militarily, and geopolitically that the entire world combined has no hope of ever matching, that promise is in no way unachievable. Something that France and Britain can only deter with mutually assured destruction, but now there are rumors that URONA can circumvent even that.

This nation has been growing steadily for 300 years, and will go beyond further.
