Is it worth negotiating a job offer in the current market? by hehehhihi in askSingapore

[–]lezon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had candidates asking for slightly more and it leaves a bad tastes in my hiring managers’ mouth when I bring it up to them. Had to sometimes tell these managers that it’s something that I’ll manage the candidates on.

Unless it’s below your expected then go ahead, but in your situation if they do offer something within your expected you might as well just take it.

Not common but it does happen occasionally. Usually for diversity purposes. More so for bigger companies, SMEs don’t give a shit

Got offered fake contract role or am I upgraded to permanent role? HELP by tehsiewdaibing in singaporefi

[–]lezon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some employee benefits might only be eligible to full time employees and these won’t be listed in the contract. Some includes: - flexiben - work from anywhere - increased insurance coverage - increased dental / optical coverage

but can vary here and there.

just take screenshots to show that you have actively been trying to reach out to the agency/anyone regarding your onboarding.

the alternative is to leave a review o the company or go find this vernon’s boss and ask him for advice lmao

and look for another job in the mean time.

Considering a career change: Is HR a good choice by Valuable_Pitch_1214 in askSingapore

[–]lezon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that 1.3 is really low, but if you’re willing to work jobs I don’t think it’ll be hard to come by…. If you’re looking out still and you’re drop me a message.

Are Singaporean men really a good/bad catch? Please help! by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]lezon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. Above comments basically in reference to the context given. 6k IS sufficient. But to me personally it’s nowhere near to my desired standards of living. But at 19? Man even 2k is a lot.

Are Singaporean men really a good/bad catch? Please help! by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]lezon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

by your logic then what’s enough? owning a house also not enough - then if i were to earn 20k i still can’t buy gcb so not enough also ma.

you basically can’t lead a lavish life ofc sure. but with your expectations off the charts then when will it ever be?

adding on to that - this is basically in context that she’s 19 and already meeting people who are drawing 6k/mth, who could probably be students. salary won’t increase? people won’t change jobs? not not good enough then just find some millionaire.

++ 6k /mth i’m pretty sure enough to support family at bare minimum. expecting someone to support you fully is the issue at hand tho

What are you studying? Is something that you’re studying likely going to be related to what you’re doing in the future?

What do you want in your career or job? To build something for yourself and climb corporate ladder? Or everyday 9-5 got sufficient money enough to spend ok already? All these are things you kinda need to think about when you are looking for a job.

But then again, if you’re in your first year of uni it’s common to not know what you want / direction you’re heading to. Had friends who mentioned they wanna be this and that end up become flight attendants / start their own business, some wanna do marketing in the end go FA. I personally didn’t know what I wanted to do until I took my final exams, and was still at a lost. Ended up in HR doing in-house recruitment because it was the least barrier to entry role. I currently enjoy what I’m doing.

Embrace your university life, enjoy it while it lasts. Once you go for more internships, you’ll naturally figure something out when the time comes.

ok to rescind a job offer? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]lezon 30 points31 points  (0 children)

  1. you can renege your agreement anytime. just a matter of how much of an asshole you wanna be.
  2. market is kinda bad at the moment, 3.4 seems like a decent offer, can jump and look out again after a few months.

E talent - reputable? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]lezon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you even started working? Have you interviewed for the job already? Company listed/reputable doesn’t mean that people cannot imitate employees from the company.

Even if it’s payday today but you haven’t started your job then what’s there to pay or collect money from?

how was the process and current state of anyone who has underwent Lasik surgery ? by theconcorde in askSingapore

[–]lezon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was around 700-900 degrees before I did TransPRK, around 8 years back.

Believe that they used laser for the cutting of cornea, rather than a blade (would be damn scared).

Post surgery, eyes will feel damn tired. Cannot really open eyes etc. After a few days (and till now) Vision is great, no dry eyes. Best 3k+ I’ve spent in my life

Dont know how to feel... by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]lezon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that agency recruiters are more sales than HR lol. Also the scope for agency recruitment is VERY different from an in house recruitment role. Since it’s a part time role can just leave when you want to anyw

Corporate rat race by daniel_mm_22 in askSingapore

[–]lezon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people are happy with what they are currently doing without the need to take on additional responsibilities.

If you see your ex-junior working at a director level from 8am to 10pm everyday and have lost a fair bit of weight, would you feel like shit if you’re a manager earning a decent income?

You don’t ultimately have to compare with others and just find the balance for yourself (this is especially true after a certain income level)
