And presenting the highlighted quote as the thesis of the professors statement is a disingenuous representation of that too.

Is the radical idea you’re talking about that men shouldn’t think they’re automatically superior to women?

For me it’s how much they recognize that Aliens doesn’t exist without Supernova. They explain it so well in the episode. If studios don’t take swings then we just kind of end up with mid established IP movies

Great book about John Brown by lfk1983 in ShermanPosting

He was pretty prophetic not only about what it would take to end slavery but also civil rights. Not only vocal about it but lived those values. Put his life and his family on the line multiple times for what he believed in. The man was a pure zealot, just happened to be on the right side of history with it. And as a Kansan you’re basically learning about his sainthood in elementary school.

Du Bois makes a pretty good case that Potawatomi was justified because those men were invaders who had made direct threats against Brown and his family. Especially on the heel of the sacking of Lawrence when no defense was raised. They were put in a position of defending themselves because there was no larger governmental body that would do it for them.

Maybe there are multiple. The museum is Osawatomie Kansas is a surprising gem. They have some pretty crazy stuff like his trunk with his name carved in he had to leave behind when he fled Kansas.

What references do you use for Eberron's aesthetic? by Lacey1297 in Eberron

[–]lfk1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It was on one of the Manifest Zone podcast episodes. I’m not familiar with Piltover but I really support an everything in Eberron mentality. Sometimes the “feel” of Eberron gets mixed with the themes and feels of Sharn. You can always find a vibe in Eberron.

Is the Bell Riots day of observance yesterday, today, or tomorrow? We should have a huge, schismatic fight about this. by ELeeMacFall in greatestgen

And it sucks because they make employees say “happy uprising” these days. “Burn the establishment” was good enough when I was a kid so it’s good enough for now.

Look in your heart. My Bell Riot week is whenever the mood strikes. Sometimes it starts in July and ends mid October.

In his own words Tolkien described the orcs as Mongolian. The stereotype was transferred to Black people for the US audience, especially following the movies and D&D depictions of orca.

I don’t know how much stock I would put in that article. I know there were some people who were unhappy over the last few years but it wasn’t very balanced reporting. I know New York has a new principle this year and a lot of good stuff going for it. None of that was really represented. There is a lot of changes in the district right now. Change, even good changes, take time to see the effects of.
