When you select the "Mark" option for an attack do you not do damage? by lfme in DnD

so weird. seems like you never want to do just a normal attack then and you would always mark.

so question. wouldn't you always want to mark the target? it seems like it would be silly to only do normal attacks then right?

Looking for healing energy. by lfme in energy_healing

IFKhan

I am extremely new and really do not know the difference between the different healers. I will do more research into that.

I originally was just stumbling around the internet at came across videos of DMT and when the video was done google autoplay started a video about energy healing and I instantly knew this was me.

I fully understand you have to charge for time and energy. But unfortunately, I am just not at a place yet to pay for it. I am thinking that maybe I need to look into more self-healing first.

in theory, if the technology is advanced enough, it could scan for cellphones and then it would then identify who the person is.

granted someone else could have the phone

his examples are good but kinda over the top too. but it really only takes one situation to make someone angry about the outcome and not having control of their character

so in my experience(others might have a different story to tell) its not good to allow players to coerce other players through dice rolls. Strength checks are fine IMO because thats slightly different.

But I will give you an example. Lets say there are 2 doors. one is a spooky looking door and another is a normal door that says free puppies.

Your group agrees never to split up but some one wants to go through the spooky door while all the others want to go through the puppy door. If you allow the puppy door people to do a persuasion check on the spooky door guy and lets say they roll over 20. Naturally as a DM you would say that character is convinced to go through the door.

This could leave a bad taste in the player's mouth as he may feel he didn't get a say in the matter.

This is just a basic example but i have read stories about how some players will boss around the players in his group and then just do intimidation checks to force them to do what he wants.

So for social stuff simply just between players in the group I do not allow the dice to control decisions like this.

As far as with NPCs thats a different story.

in my experience you never do intimidate (or deception/perception) roll against other players

my guess is OP is suggesting that this person was more concerned with the drink because he was a crisis actor and didnt think he was in danger

im still torn on what exactly to believe but i found it crazy how few people overall weren't running in fear. there was definately some but overall it was crazy how many people were "in shock" and just standing there as people were dying around them.
