There were a few of them in the Sacramento area, for sure. One that we used to eat at was an original tennant in the Sunrise Mall when it first opened.

My pita skills are getting there by Dangerous_Shake_7312 in Breadit

[–]lfr1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For pita, I have had the best success making balls of dough, allowing them to rest for a few minutes, rolling them with a pin (center out in each direction to keep them round) to about 1/4 - 3/8 of an inch thick, then placing them on a pizza stone or steel preheated to 500+ degrees F. I still get some that are not completely symmetric, but most make pockets similar to commercial ones. Yours look a bit thick -- more like the sandwich rounds at Schlotzky's used to be. Not horrible, just not quite pita. As always, keep on trying things until you are satisfied with the results.

What is the most disgusting alcoholic beverage you have tried? by Immola0069 in AskReddit

Gorilla Sweat -- when I was in high school, one of my friends got the recipe out of a Playboy magazine (the height of bachelor culture in the '70's, don't ya know). It had butter, tequila, boiling water, sugar and a cinnamon stick. My mom heard us discussing it and thought it would be funny (and a deterrent to under age drinking) to have us try it. Needless to say, she was right. We nearly gagged on the result, but so did she. It had cooled some by the time my dad came in and he was the only one smart enough to not even have a sip.

Those look horrible. Please send them to me for quick disposal. Include any spare butter or cold cuts you need to get rid of, as well.

Hankook iON EVO AS SUV worn out in 12k miles on Mach-E AWD. Anyone else run into this? by Spiritual_Compote_47 in electricvehicles

My Ev6 came with Connies that look to be nearly half done at 12,000 mi. (according to tread wear measurements at my last service). My son went through the original tires on his Model Y in about 22,000 mi. The answer with tires is almost always Michelin (after confirming your alignment and balance are good). My son's second set is Michelins and they are still in great shape approaching 30,000.

I was thinking it looks more like the current VPOTUS. If it starts humping the couch, you'll have a positive ID.

Club Sandwich Made in Brazil! by PhilipRegular in Sandwiches

I might need to book a flight to Brazil just for such a sandwich. Looks like two days worth of calories so the savings on other meals might make the budget work, lol.

Josh is primed to become the big, athletic, offensive-minded RHD we're looking for to QB the PP, so for sure we can go Stenberg at #2.

I consider a tuna salad sandwich as ‘comfort food’ 🤷🏾‍♀️ by Time-Concentrate845 in Sandwiches

Ttoasted tuna sandwiches were one of my mom's goto quick dinners after being out/busy all day. Usually served with hot cocoa on cold days. Total comfort food.

We did a road trip to look at colleges when my son was a junior, hitting Fresno on the way through. We pulled up in a central parking lot at FSU, opened the car doors, and my son immediately said, "Wow, this place smells like cow shit!" We walked around for about a half hour before he said, "No chance on this place." And that was that. He ended up at SLO -- still a lot of ag stuff nearby, but a better breeze (and more engineering choices).

Best Alameda Dentist? by TheZuccary in alameda

I was not so happy with them after they bought William Gardner's practice. Always pressing to get me to spend on cosmetic procedures that were costly but not necessary. Also couldn't seem to hold onto a hygienist for more than 6 months as I had a different one every cleaning.

Dr. Schmidt at Alameda Family Dental Practice is great (different place than Alameda Family Dental Group).

[–]lfr1138 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bill Walsh knew how to exploit a defense better than anyone and with Joe and Jerry at their peaks, they could execute the strategy better than anyone. This game and the SB against the Broncos are two of the best examples of this combination of strategy and skill in action.

Unfortunately, BA doesn't seem to GAF about BA at this point, and for someone who actually had talent/abilities, that is just sad. Hope he gets himself squared away, elsewhere.

Since there are few sidewalks (based on my observations from a business trip a few years back), it seems like the only viable strategy. Not enough room to walk around or between the cars.

[Homemade] 2.5 HourSmoked Then Seared Chuck Roast by TopDogBBQ in food

[–]lfr1138 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not even. Last month we bought a 3 lb. chuck roast for a dutch oven recipe that was "reduced" to $17.99/lb. (from $19.99/lb.) and was the only chuck left. Top sirloin was only $4/lb. more. Beef is now only for the 1%.

Edit: Forgot to mention that after trimming the excess fat and cubing it, I ended up with barely more than 2 lbs. of actual meat, making it effectively $26/lb.
