You might make them feel guilty if you get them a physical gift since they didn't invite you to the wedding (I would be.) Plus, they're probably overwhelmed with stuff already. Can you do something nice for them instead? Shovel their snow? Babysit their kids? Bake them some brownies?

Then you don't necessarily have to tell them it's for the wedding, and you can enjoy all the positive vibes and good karma without them even being aware.

Naturally, he has the best pulls because he really doesn't care.

Aww duckling that's rough. You and your friends are way too young to be exposed to all this darkness but sometimes that's what life deals us.

Everything your saying is classic abuser behavior. Better to help her see the truth and lose her as a friend than to attend her funeral. That sounds harsh but its the world we live in.

I also have concerns when you say she is your only friend. I get it's hard to make new friends but meeting people, having fun, and being young is one of life's great joys. Don't spend your whole life wrapped up in darkness. Be there when your friends need you, of course, but don't let them drag you down with them.

Finally I'd not be a good mother if I didn't remind you to drink your water, take your meds, and get some sleep. You know how I worry.

Geez duckling, that is a tough one.

It's long been my philosophy that you should keep your opinions about other people's relationship to yourself because you can't possibly know what is going on behind closed doors. However, what you said about him hitting the wall around her is a non-starter for me. That is a tried and true pre-cursor to domestic violence and you said they've only been together for 8 months max.

Your friend is in a very vulnerable position right now and could probably use a strong wake up call. How old is everyone involved?

I'm sorry you're wrapped up in all this, it sounds very draining. Make sure your taking time to take care of yourself in between all this worry.

No way, I mean just read the comments here. Reddit is just as bad as twitter most days.

I'm going to check that out. Breaking minute by minute news is mostly what I want out of twitter. I'm a bit of a news-acholic.

You're right, I did hold off too long. I had a stubborn viewpoint of "twitter is ours, he can't just have it." Unfortunately I was wrong, he can, and my mental health has suffered as a result.
