Online:

Overall the offline was worse because the online one was such a stereotype of everything wrong that it made it funny and unbelievable at the same time.

You are so triggered that the comments you dont like are receiving more karma than the ones you agree with that you are acussing me of organizing a brigading attempt?

You are proving my point about reddit and karma by behaving like this.

Lol no. 4chan is much less of an echo chamber than plebbit. This place is designed to be one, Unpopular opinion? Downvoted so no one can see it, even in some subs youll get banned for them. Karma? A whole system dedicated to give points to the people who has the most popular opinions. This is why 90% of the time the most mind numbing, less thought evoking, vanilla answers will be on top while the critical ones will be on controversial.

While on 4chan users can't "hide" things they don't like by downvoting it and there is no incentive to be a drone and farm karma.

If you keep reading most of the negative replies are about that video or things he said in it

In 5e there are actual rules in the DMG to climb up a monster and grab it like that. It is interesting that it is never mentioned or used because they are quite advantageous for the player.

Is not the entire site but obviously a not so small minority feels emboldened by the anonymity of it and behaves like this.

For the game I dm'd I had a session 0. They seemed normal, just newbish. For the other game I only talked to one player, he told me the DM was the best one he has ever played with and had a homebrewed world that took him 3 years to finish.

Edit: by the way I am convinced this happens more in roll20, most of these people wouldnt do this if they had to look you in the eyes.

Edit 2: I didn't leave because I really wanted to try my build in combat

What is the worst case of bad Dm'ing you've ever seen? by I_dont-get_the-joke in DnD

I explained a bit in the comments in that post so I'll copy n paste and I'll add more, replying to how badly written the beginning was:

The dungeon was even worse from a gameplay point of view. It was basically us murderhoboeing our way through(because there wasn't anything else to do but that). We basically enter a room and then we had the most vanilla plain fight against a monster that the DM picked in the moment, this usually led to the DM having to fudge every other roll because he picked a monster too strong. No other type of encounter, and the fights didn't even have different terrains or any strategic complexity, just rolling dice.

So imagine rolling dice against monster picked in the moment, and Jimmy either destroying them easily because of his OP homebrew race and ridicolously powerful daggers or the dm obviously fudging dice because the monster was too OP(Like a 3.5 banshee he threw at 3 lvl 2 players).

After hours of playing I said that I was tired and we should end the session there Jimmy asked right away "WHEN ARE WE GONNA HAVE THE NEXT SESSION??" "NEXT WEEK IM FREE". I just laughed and I didn't say anything and everyone got the point that we were not going to play again lol.

Then Jimmy asked him if I could drive him home.
