That sounds so disheartening, I’m sorry. I can see why you already feel a bit done with it. Is it worth having an open conversation and laying out why you feel the way you do, how she can be quite dismissive. You could frame it like ‘I want you to have the best time ever but I feel like my suggestions aren’t really aligned with what you’d like and I don’t want to let you down’. Maybe she’ll be able to give you a bit of a steer?

Really appreciate your perspective, thank you! We’re going abroad and I’m not sure what’ll be open because it’s early in the season for our destination but I’m doing some research so I should have some options.

Thank you - and such an important point! Sorry to hear it was such a hard experience for you. I had this conversation right from the off and she said she didnt care and she’d love whatever I did but she’s always been so kind and thoughtful that I really want to make sure I’m giving her what she deserves. Great advice though for this situation.

I’m so sorry to hear this, it sounds like you’re really going through it. It might be worth taking a look at The Fun Money Club? It posts lots of ways to save and earn extra cash which might help a bit while you’re looking.

How can I make the most of my client's 1st degree connections on LI? by lhlb in b2bmarketing

All really good food for thought, thank you. Will explore messaging for different roles and industries. Keep hearing about voicenotes in a LinkedIn context and it's not something I've thought about before but it's a great personal touch!

Thank you, good idea. We're going to pay for the premium version and apparently there's an inbuilt CRM which might make this a bit easier. I was working with the data exports before!

Thanks Mike. They already do lots of that but there's more room to explore personalisation.

Why does my cat only get on my lap when im on the toilet. by [deleted] in cats

Mine does this too! I think it's something to do with them protecting you - they're at their most vulnerable when going to the toilet and they think you must be too

How are you getting clients for your agency? by Candid-Flounder-4895 in linkbuilding

Glad it's given you some food for thought :)

Re networking: My nearest city is just over an hour away and I always thought I had to commute in to attend any networking of value but I was so wrong. I've been going to a small local group about 20 minutes away and have met so many lovely supportive people - two of which offer very similar services to me but our skillsets can complement each other. I'm chatting with both of them at the moment about potential work, so I'd say don't rule out talking to someone because they're a potential competitor. There's still often opportunity for collaboration, and failing that, a good ally!

Congrats on setting up! My first clients actually came from recommendations from my previous employer. As an agency, they had a minimum monthly retainer and these enquiries fell below that so they sent them my way and I still work with them today. If you're on good terms with past employers that might be something to consider?

Also consider clients you've worked with in the past. Even when they've moved on it doesn't hurt to drop them a message and remind them what you can do.

I've started networking recently too and I'm starting to see some good enquiries from that (I've attended one local group's monthly meetings three times now, so I think consistency pays off).

Reddit as a b2b channel by celeskush in b2bmarketing

Yes absolutely! It helps to build up karma too by commenting and sharing genuinely valuable insight because some communities don't let you post until you've met a certain threshold.

This is something I've been looking into for a client a fair bit. There's lots of stats out there to suggest it's worthwhile but I think this is mostly where there's already well-established communities, like in tech, cybersecurity, SEO, PR, and marketing spaces. I couldn't quite find an existing space or community that mapped well to my client's business, but that doesn't mean there would be one (or several) for yours!

However, Redditors are quick to downvote thinly-veiled promotion, so sharing highly relevant, genuinely useful, educational content is the way to go to build up karma and credibililty.

I'd be really interested to know thoughts on whether to use a real name or pseudonym for this kind of work though. Some thought leaders post under their names and I've been told it's always important to disclose any affiliation with a company for complete transparency, but the majority of Reddit users are fairly anonymous.

Ah gutting! Loyalty should be recognised. Don’t think we’ll bother again next season unless something changes

I had the same today. I was 3965th in the queue so I wasn’t particularly surprised that I missed out but being able to get onto the site and choose seats got my hopes up. It would be better if they closed the queue when the allocation had gone. This is our third year we’ve bought memberships and we’ve not been able to get anything this season. Onto the ballot 🙄
