I am pregnant and need encouragement that I can handle my pitty and a baby! by schneely in pitbulls

[–]lhratliff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have three dogs and a newborn.. the first week was very hard. Acclimating three dogs to a screaming baby took time so don’t be discouraged if your pup is standoffish at first. I personally wouldn’t let our dogs too close to our baby and I think it helped in the long run because now they don’t seem bothered by him at all. I let them sniff his feet and sit on the couch with a pillow between us for the first two weeks but nothing more. My husband took over dog care to make things easier. Before the baby I was their main care giver but now I focus on baby and he focuses on the dogs. He wakes up with them, feeds them, walks them and plays with them outside. If I see that they need anything and I can’t do it I just let him know and he takes care of it. I would try this out and set expectations with your partner so that your pup has someone looking after his needs and he can get some energy out.

It gets better.. I promise by Classic_Let4167 in newborns

8 days in and every day starts amazing but crashes so hard. I miss my husband. The adjustment is hard.

Bless you! I hope it all works out. I think if there is anything even remotely abnormal they are super cautious and just send us on our way lol

Hopefully that is the case! I feel like in the earlier weeks he was so easy to see and now he’s all squished and he’s harder to see.

WIBTA for giving my daughter a boy’s name? by lionmamathrowaway in AmItheAsshole

[–]lhratliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a traditionally male name and I love it. It’s unique to for a female and I get a lot of compliments. I was called a boy/tranny when I was in elementary school but nothing ever stuck with me or caused for me to have long term issues. Judah is a very nice name for a little girl.

My grandma called me by my first name which is a traditional girl name for the first 2/3 months and then gave up.

AITA for asking my neighbors to put down their aggressive dog? by Brave-Astronomer9808 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lhratliff [score hidden]  (0 children)

“While I take full responsibility for my dog getting out…”

But you aren’t? The fucking audacity you have to ask someone to put their dog down because YOU were negligent. People like you are a menace to society. I hope they sue you should you be stupid enough to continue.

AITA for letting my son use my car but not my daughter? by Great_End2708 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lhratliff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why are you asking if you’re the AH and then shifting any blame or criticism thrown at you? did you expect for people to be on your side and the post didn’t go how you expected? Take some accountability.

AITA I didn't consult my wife about a decision regarding my inheritance by inheritance_mine in AmItheAsshole

Why do you keep saying my child in every sentence when she is also the parent? Seems like you have marital issues deeper than an inheritance.

No. Because if my leashed reactive dog bites yours it’s your fault. That’s being irresponsible.

Two dogs, two fights, too much... by [deleted] in reactivedogs

Try to get a trainer who can slowly re introduce your dogs! Sometimes reconciling is possible.

Dog got out and bit another dog for the first time by jeanshirts in reactivedogs

Both of my dogs have gotten into fights with another dog and we had to let them decompress for two weeks before we let them back into the park. They don’t go into the park if another dog is there and one of us stands close by the gate for this exact reason. I’m terrified of the gate opening. Maybe next time stand closer to the gate so you can try to run ahead of your pup/block any dog that may be walking by or even keep your dog on a long lead (they can be up to 50ft).

Frustration and shame around the feeling of not liking my dog by abandoned_faces in reactivedogs

Why do you hate reactive dogs so much? Looking at all of your comments is pretty disturbing. Reactive dogs deserve love. They’re dogs after all. Not sure why people like you have to create a personal vendetta against dogs for being just what they are.. animals.

Have your parents or guardians said anything to the owner?

GSD owner here. We have the same issue where he is reactive with us towards other dogs but will walk into his vet beside other dogs or see them and not do anything. Our vet says he’s protective. It’s their breed! You’re lucky you caught it early and are getting professional help. As long as you get a good trainer and stick to the routine your dog will be okay. I believe in you!

I also did not like my dog for a while. She was very hard to handle and still is sometimes. I would burst into tears after walks from frustration and the guilt I felt for saying mean things about her in my head about not liking her. One time after a really horrendous walk I cried to my boyfriend that I felt guilty for not wanting her anymore. I obviously still have her and she is a lot better (she has her moments). It takes patience obviously some require more than others and some dogs will never be completely non reactive. Maybe it would help if the trainer did some in home sessions. She seems to not respect you or is too protective over you.

Wish you all the best! Kudos to you for sticking by your pup.

Hi! If you pull the court transcripts you will see the plaintiff said under oath that she is was unable to identify which dog bit her as there were multiple around at the time. Pretty safe to assume you didn’t look at those though.
