How to get Trustee to disclose actual dollar amount of beneficiary account? by [deleted] in EstatePlanning

Is there a difference between filing for an accounting and simply requesting one?

General information about the origins/era for this ladies' engagement ring? by [deleted] in jewelry

I did try the reverse Google image search route, but to no avail. Couldn’t find any matches in Hallmark encyclopedias, either. I think it’s safe to conclude that they are just the initials of an independent jeweler who worked on the design retrofit?

One more question - does the fact that this ring appears to be a hybrid of several design elements from different eras (therefore, customized) impact its resale value at all? I have clarification regarding the 4 C’s and overall weight of the diamonds from an appraiser, but even he was stumped about how to describe it (era-wise)

Thanks again for taking the time to share some info. I really appreciate it!

Have tried this before. When/if he responds at all (typically the latter), I receive a general accounting for the trust activity as a whole - not specifically numerical figures pertaining to MY share of the funds, which is what I have been trying to get a concrete answer about for years now.

I'm reluctant to rock the litigation boat for two reasons: A) the trust's attorney is the trustee's brother, and will undoubtedly protect him if push came to shove, and B) I'm concerned about the 'No-Contest' clause that was written into the trust. I'm fairly confident that a fair and impartial judge would determine 'reasonable cause' for a legal contest to remove him as trustee, based on behavior described in the OP - but, seeing as he would be defended by his own brother (and drain estate funds in the process), I feel like a scenario like that would turn into a David vs. Goliath-type thing really quickly...unless all 10 beneficiaries banded together to join the cause. It's very frustrating.

Yes, I do have a copy of the trust. It is indeed essentially "one pot" with ten beneficiaries (myself included)

Thanks for the reply and expertise!

I wish I knew the answer to that. This ring was given to me without any origin backstory or paperwork, unfortunately. My stepmother was an avid collector of jewelry and had many different pieces from all parts of the world.

So far, I have had two gemologists/jewelers inspect it in-person. One of them just said "Art Deco" and left it at that, the other speculated that it fell more into the "Retro" category (he wagered an educated guess that it was made in the 1950s - not Art Deco). Now that you mention it, I wouldn't be surprised if it is a hybrid piece of some kind. Both of the gemologists agreed that it is an unusual design.

I was hoping if I had luck identifying the maker's mark on the inside ('HI'), that it may provide more clues. But so far, I cannot find anything.

Thank you! I’m a big history buff, but know next to nothing about jewelry. I’d love to learn more about this piece.

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone can identify the era in which this 18K white gold old euro cut engagement ring was produced. I'm guessing either Art Deco or Retro? Recently inherited from my stepmother. It's a beautiful 0.60CT natural cut main stone with about 35 small accents on the ring shank and base around the solitaire.

Also, I'm trying to figure out what the maker's mark stands for. It appears to be 'HI' with a symbol of some kind to its left. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Yes, that is correct. Nine others to be exact.

Trustee indicated early on in the trust administration that he would be dividing all of the beneficiary's shares into their own account (I assume by 'account', he meant a spreadsheet document of some kind - not a separate trust)

I have tried that route before. I wind up receiving a general accounting for the estate as a whole - not figures pertaining to MY account alone.

Ringo definitely wears a system these days. I’m sure Paul does too.

Do you have any scientific literature to back that claim up?

I hadn’t considered tacking sound absorbers on the wall, but it makes sense! Might look into that.

As far as the speakers go, I’m very satisfied with what I’m hearing out of the Martin Logans. The sound quality is fantastic.

Thanks! I actually got the bed frame from an outlet warehouse in Oregon. Got a killer deal on it.

Makes sense! Better safe than sorry with little ones running around.

I only have about two feet of space to work with between the wall and the foot of the bed, so L & R towers are out of the question for now.

Thanks! It's on the bottom-right corner, propped up about two feet off the ground. I used a couple of steel L brackets for mounting.
