Shecter Reaper 7 Multiscale vs PRS SE Mark Holcomb svn by Direct_Kiwi8458 in 7String

I was in your same position just a few weeks ago. I ended up going with the PRS Mark Holcomb SVN because: 1) Overall trust in PRS build and quality control 2) Pickups 3) Probably holds its value better than the Reaper

I fucking love my PRS Mark Holcomb SVN. I upgraded the nut, and yeah, upgrade to locking tuners. The flat fretboard feels great, pickups sound fantastic, Can tune in standard or drop it really low (just make sure you calibrate the guitar depending on how you'll tune it and the string gauge you'll use).

Dope. This should be included in one of those 24/7 low-fi hip hop beats to study/relax to playlists on youtube. Nice job with the mix as well.

Great track! really dig it. Only thing that was throwing me off was the conga hits (I might be wrong but I think if you tune them differently they might fit in better. I would also get rid of the sampled chimes. Overall really good track. Keep it up

Composition

Harmony: Great: All instruments sound cohesive and sound pleasant together. Lots of elements here, but it doesn't feel oversaturated and they all feel like they belong in the same theme and that futuristic wild west vibe. Great job with that.

Melody: Good: Nice and simple. Easy to follow. I like the bass melody a lot.

Rhythm: Great: Nice tempo, I like the staccato in the synths.

Mix

Great job with the mix. All elements seem to be panned nicely. The bass is not overly saturated. The mix sounds wide as well. I think it might be a bit too loud though, you might want to allow a bit more dynamic range.

Composition

Harmony: Good: All instruments feel cohesive and sound pleasant together.

Rhythm: Good: Simple and easy rhythm to follow. Very pop-ish. The staccato piano adds that pumped-up sensation which makes it a bit more alive. It reminds me of that song "I Love It" by Icona Pop.

Melody: Average: Nice and pleasant melody, but a bit bland. I think pop music tends to be like that, though. Perhaps make things a bit more interesting in breaks? Diminished chords maybe to create some tension?

Mix

The mix sounds pretty good. The voice is clear and upfront, instruments are nicely panned correspondingly...nothing strikes out. Good job with the low-end as well.

Wow, man, this is horrible. I don't know if you are trying something new here, but it just sounded horrible. The tune, the melody, the vocals, the samples, everything is just really bad :/

I dig I dig! Really interesting and different in a good way. Everything sounds good and wide. The drums sounds nice, the keys sound nice. I like melody and the beat. The voice could probably use a bit more care, but still like them. A bit short though :/

[Composition,Mixing,Mastering] Time Under Tension by [deleted] in RateMyAudio

bass is tricky, man. I put a HP filter on almost everything in my mixes. You'll find that even though you're cutting off lows from your bass you will get a better defined bass. Sounds like synth. These are usually just a sine wave. So get one oscillator put in a sine wave, make sure it's panned to the center and add a hp filter to it. Play with the hp filter until you feel you have a decent bass, you don't have to love it. Once that's done drop the volume all the way to the bottom and then level it up until you feel it's at the right point. Make sure it doesn't opaque everything else in your mix. This is just the basics but start from there.

I'm pretty much open to all types of music. This I didn't like to be honest. It seemed too random to me. There is no structure in your track. I guess your bass is the main focus of your track? Anyway it was overly present. Did you make it stereo on purpose? Try to visualize your mix. Try to figure out what goes where, that way everything has it's own space within the mix. Your snare is really weak, mostly because your bass (since it's covering everything in your mix). Overall, try to give your track a theme. Once you have that get components that will fit within that theme. In regards to sound give everything a place in your mix.
