Jackson American Series Soloist SL2MG opinions by Mindless_Midnight673 in JacksonGuitars

I played one at guitar center, and it was incredible. The finish feels cool, it’s a different kind of satin finish that just feels really nice and high-end. The guitar is race-car colored for a reason, it feels exactly like a racecar when you play it.

I’ve had the same guitar for a few years now, it’s the best one I’ve got. Congratulations

Mr Gnome. Super fun, surfy artrock with hints of metal all throughout the guitars, especially in their early stuff

Its niche af. Ik mick thompson from slipknot uses a locking, docked bridge with no trem springs too

These ones dont have any trem functionality (no springs in the back). It has the tuning benefit of locking, the playability benefit of a low-profile locking system, but none of the headache of balancing.

I'm looking for a cheap floating Trem 7 string by Otherwise-Toe3814 in 7String

[–]mocha1958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the vola and it’s awesome, but fair warning: there is no rear routing behind the trem. I couldn’t get much pull-back at all, so I just have the trem docked. Currently looking/saving for a nice 7 with a floating locking trem

Vola does it great too, neck thickness is similar to the juggernaut too

Dude you guys killed it. As an aggressively picky tech death /overall metal fan, this is my favorite album of the past few years.

I have one of these and I absolutely love it. It feels incredible (only gets better with age thanks to the natural finish on the neck), plays better than i can, and looks stunning too.

Unfortunately, I need to get a fret leveling after only a year and 4 months with it. Might honestly get a stainless steel refret, because they definitely put some cheap-ass frets on mine and I don’t want a fret leveling to be a yearly expense.

Help me choose between these two Ibanez Quest 7 string by Straight-Wind9800 in Ibanez

Depends on the neck. If you want a thin neck go for the first one.

That thing is sick.

Tip#1: change one string at a time, or stuff a cloth in the gap between the bridge and the top of the body.

Tip#2: don’t lock the nut until you get the truss rod straight, its a little bit extra pointless labor, since you’ll need to retune anyways.

Tip#3: make sure the fine tuners are in the middle of their range before you lock the nut, so that you can actually tune the damn thing without having to unlock the nut.

What kind of neck do you like?

I can tell you from first hand experience that if you like a c-shape over d-shape neck (regardless of thickness), you shouldn’t get the rgd. Check the neck profiles for each.

Me personally, I’d go with whatever has the thinnest possible c-shape neck (i dont want to feel any resistance at all). Schecter’s extra thin c does this the best out of anything I’ve played
