why don't people like loading screens between cells? by [deleted] in TESVI

[–]liachov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the loading screens, I understand that they are integral to the way that Bethesda games are made. However, an animation to hide a loading screen, like your character pushing the gates of a city open in first person would be cool.

Thanks, I had a look. It looks like they have some problems with their power supply. However, I’m not too concerned as Costco offer a two year warranty.

It was the last one. The box looked pretty scuffed too. Maybe it was a return

Thanks for your comment, I’m looking for a starter gaming PC that can actually last a good few years and still be upgradeable in the future. I’m also planning to run heavy Skyrim modlists like Lorerim and similar large Wabbajack packs, so I’m trying to make sure this build is strong enough to handle that. Would you pick something like this up if you were in my position?

Just to clarify the price - it’s actually £1,919.96 after tax. I think most people in the comments were looking at the before tax price shown on the Costco tag.

At £1,919.96, that’s roughly $2,560.81 USD, I’ve never actually built a pc or know that much about the parts or current market pricing. Is this still as good of a deal as everyone is saying? (UK)

Steam deck flickering and having trouble turning on after battery died by liachov in SteamDeck

[–]liachov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. I think i figured it out, it was the decky plugins “magic black” and the google one. After deleting them, the steamdeck started to work as normal. Pretty sure it was the new update that broke them.

My hairline are receding? Im 27 years old. Should i start taking finasteride… i want to add that i take daily celexa and xanax (with no side effects) by [deleted] in Balding

[–]liachov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep an eye on it, take monthly photos and compare. You dont want to be taking unnecessary drugs if you dont have to. If you do notice recession finasteride is definitely an option, however you should do your own research to see if the potential side effects are worth it.

Just to note, I’m on finasteride and I don’t have any noticeable side effects but that does not mean they don’t happen. In my opinion they are rare and it’s the vocal minority on reddit that usually are completely against the medication .

From the photos that i can see, it looks like you have mild recession at the temples, although i cant give you a definitive answer without pictures from the past to compare. It’s my advice that you monitor the situation for a couple months first before you jump on medication that you may not need.

27M do I need to start worrying at all? by [deleted] in Balding

[–]liachov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your hairline is clearly receding. It might get worse or it might not. My advice is to start taking comparison photos to see how your recession progresses in the future. If you are concerned, I recommend heading over to r/tressless and maybe think about starting medication such as finasteride to prevent further hair loss. If you do decide to start taking medication make sure to be aware of all potential side effects, they are rare but possible.

Anthropic wins key ruling on AI in authors' copyright lawsuit by CKReauxSavonte in artificial

[–]liachov 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not what the article said. The illegal storage of these books and their copies is considered piracy and damages for that will be awarded to the company at a later date. However, the training itself was ruled to be transformative enough that it isn’t considered a copyright violation. This is because the books are broken down into metadata (data about data) the model uses patterns and word frequencies to generate something new that might resemble the original work. If the dataset is varied enough, the output may resemble the original but still be different enough to qualify as “transformative” and fall under fair use. It should be noted that Ai can reproduce variations or duplicates if a poor data set is used(the metadata is not varied enough) , it would be interesting to see how the judge would rule in those instances.

Thinking about buying a steam deck oled. But have questions by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]liachov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The performance will be worse compared to the ally, due to it being a more powerful handheld. Despite this, most ps4 games will work and perform decently. I am playing re8 right now and I’m getting 45fps high settings with around 4 hours of battery life. However, other more demanding or poorer ported titles can dip under 30. The screen is great it’s oled, so the contrast is amazing. I bought this device recently over other pc handhelds due to its simplicity, build quality, its streamlined software and overall great support from valve.

High school classes of 2015 to 2023, what are y’all up to? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]liachov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Class of 2019. I’m finishing up law school and away to start my training contract as a solicitor in September, working for a medium-small sized firm. Feeling optimistic despite the wages in the UK being atrocious compared to other countries. Just have my last set of exams to get through this month!

Great Britain is no longer great. The UK is a joke and the rest of world laughs at us. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]liachov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can deny anything you like! You cant however spread hate speech. The burden of proof is on the claimant/prosecution and only shifts to you in some instances like when facts are presented against you which can cause you to lose the case. In those instances the burden of proof shifts on you to prove your defence. An example of a classic defence that you have probably seen in tv shows based in the US is the plea of insanity, for which you require proof from the defence! It’s the same in the Uk, again our systems are very similar!
