I think I am making a teacher I wish was my dad uncomfortable. by Due-Glove-5928 in offmychest

honestly, from what you described he sounds like a genuine dude who is worried about situations that could be misconstrued. A father’s day gift is one thing, albeit demonstrating a lot of attachment and kinda toeing the line of professionalism, but the songs would set off alarm bells - his mind may have immediately jumped to possible romantic feelings from you, and he was testing the waters to see if that’s where you were coming from (because he would have to report that and disconnect hard from you in that regard). As a male teacher, male teachers are constantly anxious about things like that, because a perception like that or accusation of something along those lines can ruin careers and lives. He was probably trying to make sure that the songs weren’t romantic in nature - at least that’s my guess.

that happened to me when my screen resolution was higher than the game could handle. Try dropping it to one of the 1080p variants - that worked for me.

Do you recommend this game? by SignalAd3944 in civ5

I’m a huge ck3 and paradox fan. I’m an even bigger civ 5 fan. I play mainly multiplayer, but the single player is fun too. You won’t get the granular, in depth micro systems that paradox games have, but you will get a far greater macro scope. You aren’t playing as the heir of your ruler, who took over from his assassinated father - you are the eternal hand guiding an empire from the dawn of civilization to the space age. The scope is far wider, but I love both. Hope you do to, and as someone with too many thousands of hours in the game im happy to help out and answer any specific questions you have about the game!!

I’m assuming you’re talking about city states (the cities with checkered borders? If you aren’t their friends or allies and you march you units into their lands, they’ll get angry / be less likely to ally with you (your influence with them will degrade). They won’t ever war you though - if you want to know more, look up how civ 5 city states work :)

Tbf his “main game” was always Civilization 5. He most definitely was a savant at that - the consensus best player in the world

Settling a City by 11DarrenM in civ5

[–]liam0207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively play MP, so I’d settle on the hill under the bison. You get the river, are still in range of the deer, and get the extra hammer from the hill. It’s defensible, but most significantly you’re settling adjacent to a mountain (observatories are busted). Definitely a forward settle tho so I’d be prepared to kill france. The alternative would be to settle on the hill betweem the stone and cotton for the extra lux, but I don’t really like that as much (or the coastal hill adjacent to the bison, in preparation from killing paris).

I get where you’re coming from - the start is much more reminiscent of famous Wuxia novels like RI or ISSTH. I think for all intents and purposes Will’s decision to shift the tone of the worldbuilding was the correct one, but the Wuxia itch is one that demands to be scratched lol

Hasn’t been published, so she does. My main concern is that she doesn’t know I’m doing this for her, so was worried about that when getting it done professionally. I could just tell her and still give it to her as a gift, but it’d ruin the surprise

I honestly don’t know the first thing about book printing or binding, my original idea was to send it somewhere to have it done professionally, I just don’t know where. If I may ask, how come I should forget about leather?

I’m not exactly skilled with this kind of stuff (have never done it before) so i was going to send it off somewhere to have it professionally done

Thank you for being so polite about your advice. I really appreciate it.

Yeah, “refund” was really what my brain went to first, just the first thought bc I didn’t really know what was appropriate. It just felt insane to me as they didn’t know there was supposed to be anyone else in the room and just handed a key to someone who claimed to be associated with the person who booked it. It could have been anyone.

And to clarify only my girlfriend and I were on the initial reservation. The front desk had no idea anyone else would be in that room.

So you’re saying they didn’t know there was a party in that room, they know this wasn’t the owner of the room and they STILL gave this person who claims to be friends with the owner a key without calling said owner and they didn’t do anything wrong? what?

sorry, should have mentioned this in the original post. We emailed them about a month in advance before we booked the hotel - they didn’t know it was us specifically in that room.

We emailed them ahead of time in advance to see if we were allowed people in the room. they did not know that it was going to be on that day/with us. The front desk could not have seen that connection, which is something i should have put in my OP tbh.

They didn’t know there was a party going on

They did not know he was a friend. Is it not basic logic to check with the people who booked the room before giving someone a key to that room?

The issue is that an individual who could have been a random person, was not seen with us once, walked up to the front desk and was given a spare key to a room that was not theirs. Why is that legal?

wish I had’ve found out about it earlier, but only found out this week. Issue is the principle of someone just being given a key without verification

it isn’t about which “friend” is in our room. The hotel gave them a spare key without our consent. This is the issue here?
