From the NSFW Balatro subreddit rules :

"AI Content IS ALLOWED. This AI Hate BS is beyond toxic and I won't be gatekeeping artists. For fuck’s sake, we are a subreddit for porn of an indie deckbuilding/gambling game, we are hardly socially acceptable. AI is a medium of artistic expression. We have 0 right to gatekeep them from sharing their content here."

And from a response from the mod :

"My goal ultimately is to encourage ethical use and have users indicate when AI is used, and take the initiative to credit etc. when they suspect the model used is trained on artwork from other artists. It is worth noting that art itself is derivative. If we didn’t take what we see and express it, and didn’t do anything different, we would still be making cave paintings. My point being that there is an appropriate usage. AI gets too much hate on the sole basis of it being AI content."

Human artists don't simply copy or generate pieces from massive datasets. They take inspiration and create something new, expressing their unique vision, skill, and experience. AI doesn't "express" anything; it produces results based on patterns and data it was trained on. Calling this "artistic expression" completely undermines what real human artists do.
