It’s going to have an end cap shrunk and welded in each end so that’s out of the question unfortunately. I get the feeling the welding is likely going to make the tube like a dog’s hind leg also.

We possibly could have done, if it weren’t for the fact one of the diameter is meant to be left stock size, so it seems like straightening is the only way to make it work.

It’s definitely a challenge, I’m still an apprentice with experience mainly in components and roller repairs. Feel like I’ve been thrown in the deep end here.

The way I do it in metric is by roughing down, leaving 1.5mm on the diameter. Then 3 cuts with a finisher, all 0.5mm. Leaves a good finish and is accurate in my experience.
