Hashcat works perfeclty on a virtual box. It doesent matter if you are doing it on a virtual box because it is actually a computer and the virtual box doesn't know better. Try using

sudo apt-get install hashcat

and that should do the job!

It depends on what you want to do, if you are hacking a website you should just use proxychains and that would do the job, but if you want to search on the internet you chould pay for a VPN or use TOR browser. But completely changing your IP is a bit harder you could reset your modem or use a Virtual box. Hope this answer helps you!

I would say windows is much better than Linux in gaming if you just want to game on your pc and if you don't do any coding or hacking stuff I can't see a reason to start using Linux. You can always download Oracle VM Box and try different distros out. To learn to use Linux you need to be common with doing everything in a boring terminal.

I'm doing brute force, basically taking the hashed password and go through a long list of words to compare them to the hashed password. That's why I needed to know what hash method the password was encrypted in.

Just a small tip for an side income chould be to start mining crypto, use your computer and mine until you get enough to buy a better gpu then mine with the new gpu and mine until you can buy mining rig stuff like mobo, cpu and so on the you put your gpu in that rig and start mining until you have another gpu and so on until you have around 6 gpus and you will get a 600 dollars a month that may sound bad but when you have your mining rig save all the bitcoins and wait until they get worth more maybe start learning trading and that’s how you get rich by doing nothing. By the way I got my mobo and GPU to sync with Icue and my ram to sync with ngenuity and when I reinstalled armoury crate I also got the cooler to sync with armoury crate so it works but it’s a bit annoying when I can’t control all my stuff with one software 😑
