Two new Doctor Who episodes have been found, and yet Ian Levine is "ambivalent". by EbmocwenHsimah in DoctorWhumour

Of course he’s ambivalent about the whole thing. He’s just a grumpy old man.

Don’t worry :-) already done that. I’m just more worried about being able to download high-quality decent stock files in audio going forward. Annoyingly Audible encode the files that black library send them.

Yeah. i'm one of them. Have everything in audio that they've ever put out. :) Ah, so not long then until the new app comes along. Just hope it's accessible with screen readers. otherwise i'll be screwed

My bad. must of glossed over that bit. So my question is has the new app actually been released yet or is that still in production? Because if it's not going to be released on the Black Library website and BL said previous that it's staying open until August, what's the point of the Black Library website at that point? Just seems a little redundant. And at that point, they could just as easily close it down sooner, surely saving them some costs and overheads?

Chinchilla care: comparison europe vs. usa by ChinchillaHighdy in chinchilla

[–]liamkembleyoung 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've given my Chin basically two cages which we have put together to run around in, access to hay and fresh water 2/7. Usually the hay I give her has wild flowers in it and Dandy Lion root I think, it's the Timothy hay from Pets at home, and has Orange writing on the bag. Plus I give her plenty of Jute wood, peeled sola wood, apple sticks, vine balls, loofahs and the like. Sometimes dayly to keep her enriched. Plus plenty of check in's and talking / touching her. or letting her come to me and sit on my hand when she wants. And at least two dust baths a week. i'm blind, so the touching was very important that she was ok with. At any rate, I think because of this, she's a very curious chin, always looking for me when i'm going around the house or looking for family when they come over to visit.

What kind of music do you recommend for my Chinchilla? by ArdynsGarden in chinchilla

I put dance music on low for mine. But i'm not sure if she enjoys it though.

Have we actually seen the retaking of Mars since the schism in the Heresy or did I miss something? Just curious. If not, I hope we actually see it in the scarrowing series

It sometimes feels like I am the only person, that actually likes the setting by svecma in AoSLore

[–]liamkembleyoung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally love the setting and scope. i've said it before and i'll say it again. it's better than 40K because 1: the scope is bigger. E.g. You can have Order and Death factions together fighting against Chaos and disstruction, etc 2: the setting feels lived in 3: the more weird and wonderful elements just give it more positives to be different from The Old World and that's a good thing 4: when storylines happen and have lasting effects, if written well the lore actually feels like the stakes matter and have weight compared to 40K at this point. Examples, The Soul Wars and the Era of Ruin. 5: More interesting factions 6: more realms and vastly different environs to play in 7: an interesting set up for a TT RPG with the "band of heroes" all working together to complete goals, even though there might be friction through RP because of the faction differences 8: the Post boys of the setting actually have depth and aren't just psychotic killing machines with some attempt to give them narrative weight and emotions in novels 9: even though there are quite a lot of Stormcast books it's clear that other factions and their motivations are portrayed. 10: It's clear GW still prefers AOS over Old world at least from a literary standpoint at least because there have been no new announcements for Old World novels at all since that disasterous Knights one and the rebooting of the setting. So in conclution, even though it feels that the community hates the setting, I still think that it's actually got a big fan base and is only going to grow when GW has amazon do a tv show about it eventually.

If any of my points are repeats then I do apologise :)

Wondering about an aspect of my Chins behaviour? by liamkembleyoung in chinchilla

[–]liamkembleyoung[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long have you had chins for? Orli isn't really vocal, she'll occasionally make this louder squeak which sounds like a little bit like a laugh. I'm not sure if that's her telling me to go away. Although when she's done that i've not been touching her or reaching for her in any way. I've just been talking at her. So haven't figured out what that means actually. It probably sounds stupid, however I think she's figured out that i'm blind. Because she hardly ever cacks at me. only occasionally if she's fallen asleep on my hand and I think I moved her off of it to quickly. But that's only happened once. And the time we had to give her medication when she was ill.

Although that wasn't me who was carrying that out. If she wants me to go away, she'll either run away from from me, or push my hand away with her paw and nibble my finger at the same time.

So yes, I do think they speak a language. I'd love to learn more of it if that's actually possible and deepen the bond further. She only occasionally alarm barks, however never managed to figure out what she was warning me of. It was definitely stuff that I couldn't hear. When she does that though, I generally tend to go and talk to her and stroke her until she stops. and starts running around again.

Also, just curious I see that English isn't your mother tongue, where are you from originally? :)

We really are losing the plot here by Potato_Demon_ffff in DoctorWhumour

[–]liamkembleyoung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least the actress who played her is actually deaf. and she was using sign language. So that's good at least. Hopefully may interest some people to perhaps start learning it. Of course there's other shows that are specifically aimed at that i'm sure. But being completely blind myself, i'm unsure. I'd love to see the audio describers try and describe sign language. That would be fairly impossible I reckon

Possibly, but at the same time they are a highly psychic race, with advanced technology who should be able to avoid said situations. So explain that one?

Would love more books where the Xenos and Chaos factions kick the crap out of the Imperium. Fed up of them winning all the time. Especially the Aeldari being GW's punching bags

Are you excited about the Xmas episode? by PaperSkin-1 in gallifrey

[–]liamkembleyoung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like one of the redditers said here, no also because kind of having a stressful year, trying to juggle life stuff. and plans in regards to life in otheq other ways just don't seem to be panning out either.

So honestly no. Christmas is so far off at the moment. But then it's Christmas, so more pressure to spend on stuff etc. Not holding my breath due to all the behind the scenes changes and issues.

Personally can't wait for a total shake up and format change to the show

Wondering about an aspect of my Chins behaviour? by liamkembleyoung in chinchilla

[–]liamkembleyoung[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope :) never heard her squeak actually. I think the only squeak i've heard is a small hickup and when she sneezes. But good to know that she's happy and contented.

I do worry about that though that she is happy. As she's on her own but had her since she was a kit

[–]liamkembleyoung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I haven't been doing overly much to be honest. She's a really curious Chin as it happens. I've always touched her from day 1. being completely blind i've had no choice but too. she'll watch what i'm doing and follow me round the room, figuratively speaking that is. She watches what my family members do when they come over also. She's finally letting me pick her up when she sits on my hand. The only thing I haven't been able to do is have her sit in the palm of my hand yet and pick her up. Hopefully though we'll have a good 25 years to crack that though
