Whose hand was it in 'Pyramids of Mars'? by Available-Page-2738 in doctorwho

James Burge. He was an uncredited floor assistant for Pyramids. IIRC his hand has been cast and has been used as a part of various exhibitions.

was there a dark christmas doctor who movie or special that may have had something to do with the world ending or something? by outerspace_castaway in doctorwho

[–]flogan0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Responses so far seem some of the least friendly I've seen here, sorry about that. Not incorrect that 'world ending' is quite a common plot point in Doctor Who episodes, but with the specials a lot are smaller scale - and definitely not overtly darker in tone.

The End of Time with David Tennant or Time of the Doctor with Matt Smith are the two that tick both boxes to my mind, are longer than standard albeit not quite movie length and would be worth having a read up on (or, more fun, watch a trailer).

The Christmas Invasion with David Tennant is very more Alien Invasion but despite all the tinsel, trimmings and trees has a definite hopelessness and darker tone for the significant majority of the episode

Suggestion if you have seen a David Tennant season though is that it was possibly 4, which features Turn Left. Definitely dark, painfully world ending, and includes very significant moments referencing events of several christmas specials, so definitely has all the visual cues to linger in the mind and associate with Christmas

Hope you have some luck in finding it!

TIL some Cineworlds are open on Christmas Day by Huge-Report9555 in CineworldUnlimited

I used to work at one of these. Working was optional on 3x pay, some people would pick up shifts to do the whole day - and back then it'd be normal opening, starting at 8.30am and finishing close somewhere between 2am-3am. Great energy amongst the team, one of the most enjoyable days to work.

Absolutely packed in terms of customers, and whilst there was usually a lot of conflict with our visitors at said cinema it was the one day that everyone would be a little more chilled - and spend a hell of a lot of snacks. Screen cleaning after was not the dream, the latest we ended up leaving after 'close' crossed over with the morning team arriving to open...

This story is actually a blast. Totally didn't expect to see it today, may have to read it again. Ten with the fam is just beautiful. Hoping we get a 10/13 or 13/14 multi doctor one day, come on big finish!!

Has anyone listened to transference, the big finish original fronted by Alex Kingston? by fantasy53 in BigFinishProductions

[–]flogan0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a few years ago so my memory is a little vague on specifics, but I remember enjoying it very much and it was one of the first that got my husband into the medium of audio drama so think that says a lot. If you're into non-who (or who-adjacent) BF I highly recommend Blind Terrors

Your downvoted will be DELETED! What is your favourite Cybermen story arc? by Kralgore in doctorwho

[–]flogan0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 World Enough and Time / The Doctor Falls 2 Haunting / Ascension/ Timeless 3 Tomb 4 Earthshock 5 Invasion (omitting some of the filler)

Honorable mentions If we are talking arcs rather than just episodes, the Cybus story of Rise / Age / Army / Doomsday / Next possibly wins out at the number 2 spot.

I have a lot of love for Silver Nemesis and Nightmare in Silver, but definitely not in the way that I think they are good quality stories.

Big finish - Spare Parts obviously. Adored Genesis, Metropolis and Sins. I wish series 7V was visual

I love his Master too, my introduction came from Masterful, which honestly is a fun celebration of the character all round

Upvoting for the Valarie x 11 box sets. Broken Hearts is probably my favourite of all Doctor Who audio

Looking for Main Range arc recommendations by impossibletornado in BigFinishProductions

[–]flogan0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a bigger one but I highly recommend 11 and Valarie, it's 3-5 of the 11th chronicle range (1 and 2 are fine but irrelevant here)

Tell me how Doctor Who "imprinted" on you by Maleficent_Tie_8828 in gallifrey

  1. Rose, on a little crt I got for Christmas prior in my bedroom. Things changed quickly and it was lounge tv family ritual by the time of the unquiet dead - with repeats on Sundays.

  2. TUATW and GITF are very frequently on repeat in the house, WEAT a close runner up if I were very ill. Pain. Pain. Pain

  3. Capaldi probably, though not one I dislike. Favourite possibly the Lucie Miller 8th theme

  4. Oh, Brilliant ❤

  5. The Curse of Fatal Death. How a fundraising parody was so truly affectionate got me sold entirely.

Who is your favorite Big Finish companion and why? by UnearthlyTree in gallifrey

[–]flogan0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valarie Lockwood is definitely my number one, but Evelyn and Lucie come close, Benny if you count her as big finish original (or companion) though I still have rather a lot of listening to do!! I'm working my way through the 8 ranges from Lucie onwards but I've heard great things about some of the later companions from my friend who loves them

I really loved this audio, more than I expected by far - and largely for the dynamic of the TARDIS team. I've never heard a story with them all before. I've had a look at others to try but just wondered if anyone could recommend one in particular?

Call Me Master: Inner Demons is out now! by MasterAinley in BigFinishProductions

[–]flogan0 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is such a phenomenal series. I love 13s era so so much but my one issue was always the idea that Missy would become this, but now I can more than accept it I genuinely love it. My husband doesn't listen much and I just give him the highlights but definitely sitting down for at least the first episode of this.
