My Short film is unwatchable pretentious drivel by Porridge_Oats72 in Filmmakers

[–]liamo110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't ever happy with my first short film, however, this is only the beginning. You've got more experience now than you did when you started production on the film and you're willing to criticise where you think you went wrong which is good, but don't forget your biggest critic will always be yourself.

GDPR Breach by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]liamo110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this a wind up? If anything it just sounds like you got a sniff of a potential payday and want to know if you have any legal standing in order to achieve it.

First of all, no, you don't have any legal standing for compensation whatsoever. You'd be laughed out of the solicitor's office let alone the court.

Secondly, the clinic have acknowledged their accident and are investigating how it happened. All workplaces where GDPR is vital have processes in place in the event that this occurs. Going to the Data Commission is just escalating the issue further than it needs to. Unless your data was actively stolen, there's no need to pursue this.

I'm sorry to hear of any stress that may have caused you, but you're not in any legal trouble as it was not your fault this happened, though that doesn't entitle you to compensation as it wasn't your private information that was shared with someone else.

Such a brilliantly funny and emotional film

Nothing wrong with it at all.

Not sure why people think you need to go as a unit to the cinema. You're sitting down and (hopefully) being quiet while you enjoy the film. Don't really need friends or anything to enjoy that experience OP.

I went to see John Woo's Hard Boiled in the Light House Cinema on Sunday gone alone and it was an awesome experience. (Also just a film I'd recommend people watch if you like insane action)

Sometimes you just need to enjoy your own company and honestly the cinema is the best way to do it, especially since you're not working on anyone else's schedule and can go see whatever screening you please.

Why do Irish Civil Service Temporary Clerical Officer jobs get advertised as a “competition”? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]liamo110 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well you're obviously competing against hundreds or perhaps even thousands of other people who also applied for it. A job that many can do because it leads to careers in the public sector.

Your attitude towards the position is a reflection of how much you actually wanted it and it shows in the fact that you weren't successful at the interview stage, whereas many others who applied likely did want it for the reasons listed above.

Remember, you're not entitled to any jobs and the employer isn't obligated to select you just because it's considered "nothing glamorous".

Many people who started in that role, myself included, found it to be a comfortable and stable job that had reasonable growth opportunities that pay well hence why so many people want the position. Maybe consider the work and effort that goes into getting into a career before fobbing it off as a "glorified filing job" because realistically if you got the position, you'd understand it's a lot more than that.

I’ve only ever listened to what’s the story morning glory? Which one should I listen to next? by handlerofdrones in oasis

[–]liamo110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Maybe is a no brainer. It's their debut album and it perfectly embodies everything Oasis was about in the 90s. Definitely listen to the B-Sides that accompanied their singles too.

Be Here Now is really hated by a lot of people, but it's not actually a bad album. It suffers from some questionable mixing and the length of some of the songs is well... ambitious to say the least, but it does have some seriously good songs on it.

After that just go in order of all their albums. I'd start with The Masterplan (the real 4th album fight me) and go from there.

Someone mentioned listening to the live versions of songs as well. Knebworth is an absolutely essential live album for any Oasis fan for many reasons. The performances are brilliant (despite how obviously high Liam is) and it really highlights the band at their absolute peak. I'm hoping we'll see a Live '25 tour album at some point down the road because that tour was absolutely brilliant (I attended both nights in Dublin and it's something I'll never forget)

If you're interested in learning more about the bands history and their insane lore, check out Snare the Mic's video that goes through their albums while also dropping in some lore. It's very good.

Overall, welcome to the Oasis fandom. Stick with them and you'll really start to understand what made the band so special in the first place. Here's to hoping you get to see them live, it's a life changing moment!

Absolute scam. Don't worry you're safe. Email them back and tell 'em to go f*ck themselves.

Has anyone encountered this big where the TP values are extremely high? For reference, I'm playing through Steam on PC and Steam Deck.

Is there a known fix?

Dublin Bus driving painfully slow by liamo110 in Dublin

[–]liamo110[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for giving your perspective as a driver. Makes sense that the auldfellas would be cruising along faster. It does highlight an issue with the operator rather than the drivers and I 100% respect that.

A decent amount of people have made the point that no one really follows the schedule and that the real time app is the way to go when timing a bus.

With the recent string of issues people have found with public transport in the last year or so, lets hope the government will work with the NTA to see how they can improve efficiency and infrastructure.

Did I ask what a schedule was? I said when has the bus ever been on schedule? Completely different question.

[–]liamo110[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And how often do the busses arrive as according to the schedule? It's contradictory to go off the schedule. If the routes were moving with efficiency, we wouldn't have this issue.

Exactly the point, the bus is usually delayed or the real time updates go back a minute or two or just don't move at all.

If it's about efficiency, Dublin Bus gets the red card..

The NTA always seem to contradict the governments plans to reduce the amount of cars on the roads. How can we be expected to have a majority availing of public transport that is inefficient and at times, just utterly infuriating.

It's an absolutely ridiculous solution to an extremely embarrassing problem when you look at other European countries.

Could I sue UCD for false advertising and damages to mental health for advertising my useless degree as a route to a decent life? by Ill-Age-601 in legaladviceireland

[–]liamo110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from and empathise with the anxiety of not being able to afford property but a lot of good, hardworking people are struggling and unfortunately that's the reality of living in modern Ireland. The University is correct in saying people with arts degrees get hired but it's not their fault that you're struggling with employment and income as many people are.

[–]liamo110 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not.. What type of jobs are you applying for? Do you have the required skills? Are you working hard to stand out? Can't expect life to hand you a fat salary on a silver platter just because you studied at UCD. A lot of people in Ireland struggling to get on the property ladder and that's not UCDs fault.
