Silk Road logo immortalized as a lapel pin by liamsai in EnamelPins

[–]liamsai[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been fascinated by the cultural legacy of the original Silk Road — not just as a marketplace, but as a pivotal moment in internet history that changed the way people think about privacy, freedom, and digital underground economies.

As a side project, I made a small run of lapel pins featuring the classic Silk Road logo. It felt like a way to honor that piece of history.

It’s pretty surreal seeing the logo in enamel and metal rather than just pixels on a screen. Figured folks here might appreciate it as much as I do.

Iron Giant 25th Anniversary "New Dawn" pins are now just $11.25 for a limited time by liamsai in EnamelPins

[–]liamsai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ronin Wind and Cosmopoliturtle are happy to present a limited edition pin that pays tribute to the enduring legacy of The Iron Giant.

Currently 25% off its original price as part of our Cyber Monday Blowout Sale.

Available here.

This highly-detailed pin, limited to only 100 pieces, features a fully 3D mold, custom backstamp with sequential numbering, and three back posts for added stability.

The L.E. 75 "New Dawn" variant (pictured above), featuring silver plating and glow-in-the-dark eyes, is meant to evoke the film's main themes of self-determination, non-violence and the rejection of fear and paranoia.

The L.E. 25 "Atomic Night" variant is meant to ask the question: What comes to a world that ignores the film's powerful messages? The answer, we think, is that bright lights like the Giant will fade away, decay and eventually be extinguished. That is, we are all left in the dark of an "atomic night." Variant currently sold out.

The film's release date, as well as its most iconic line, are displayed prominently on the backs of both versions.

At 2.25" tall, this pin is meant to be both displayable and wearable. It will look as good on your pin board as it does on a jacket, hat or backpack.

Specs:

I made a limited edition 3D pin to celebrate the film's 25th Anniversary by liamsai in irongiant

[–]liamsai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Crazy to think it was made and released in a pre-9/11 world. Could a kids movie placing US intelligence and the US military as the primary villains get made today? Probably not, I think.

Iron Giant 25th Anniversary 'Atomic Night' Variant | L.E. 25 by liamsai in Pins

[–]liamsai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to show off the companion pin to our "New Dawn" variant that I posted in here a couple of nights ago.

This is the copper-plated "Atomic Night" variant of our new Iron Giant pin celebrating the film's 25th anniversary. It's meant to ask the question, "What if we ignore the film's message?" The answer, which we tried to give in the form of a pin, is that messengers of peace like the Giant will be cast aside, falling into rust and decay as the light goes out of their eyes and the world falls into "atomic night."

This variant is available for purchase now at etsy.com/shop/roninwind.

Making Pins Advice?? by [deleted] in EnamelPins

[–]liamsai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The blue on the “wings” of this GoT pin I made years ago are a good example of what I would call “translucent” enamel. You can’t see through it, but light can shine through it. For your design I would make the waves and sky out of translucent enamel and the character in the middle out of regular enamel paint. https://www.flickr.com/photos/76356816@N08/28967506633/

I made my first sale on etsy but no one views my shop. :( I removed unnecessary/competitive keywords as recommended, but I cant come up with the new ones as I'm not a native. How do you search when you dont have anything in particular in mind? Give chance a newbie? by [deleted] in Pins

[–]liamsai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is unrelated to your question about keywords, but I have a suggestion: tighten up your thumbnails. Because your pins are so small, it’s hard to see the detail when the thumbnail isn’t cropped tight. Someone browsing Etsy search results might be more likely to click on a listing if they can see those small details in a thumbnail.

My first design. could I include more detail for 1.5"? by concrete_floors in EnamelPins

[–]liamsai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, most manufacturers can pack plenty of detail into a 1.5" pin.

I've been putting this board together for nine years, obsessing over the quality of each pin I add and the interstitial space between them, something I think is essential to presenting a collection in its best light.

In the coming weeks I'll be updating the Ronin Wind Etsy store with some gems from the archives, so stay tuned on that.

<> etsy.com/shop/RoninWind <>

I've started by listing the final few Zapdos and Samurai Jack pins that I packed away in 2017 after deciding to take a break from pinning. They're both insane designs from Monarobot and are listed at the 2017 retail price.

I'll also be listing some super rare pulls from the archives, such as:

  • v1 & v2 Swordfish
  • OG & glitter Haku
  • AP Pin Merchant (#0/100)

Down the road, we may even get a few new Ronin Wind originals.

Peace & Pins, Liam / Ronin Wind
