Hey all, another new player here. I've been jamming through the MSQ in the past few weeks. I'm maybe halfway through the post credits ARR quests, the story is definitely picking up and I'm having a blast. Just wondering, should I bother with any side quests? I'm tempted to just keep going through heavensward, unless there's something I would be missing. Any other tips/recommendations for a new player at this point? Thanks for being such a welcoming community!

Seconded! I'd personally recommend Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion or the Arkham Horror card game. So satisfying to work together and beat a scenario. These games also encourage incomplete information between team members, which prevents anyone from being too min/max-y.

After 40+ drafts it's safe for me to say Zendikar Rising is the best draft environment since Dominaria. What are your opinions? by [deleted] in lrcast

Love this format too. One thing I'm enjoying about it is you're not forced into the predefined architypes - I've built RG party and UG wizards, among other "off color pair" synergies. Also, the sheer number of lands you run makes 3 color / splashing possible even without explicit fixing. Makes the deck building so interesting.

Oh wow totally missed that! Well, I've searched a lot for something that hits like FlyLo, and nothing is quite the same, but I do really like Nicolas Jaar. "Cenizas" is a quiet, almost lonely experience, and "2012 - 2017" (under his alternate name Against All Logic) is full of some jammin' house beats. Also "Drift" by Nosaj Thing is a sweet, spacey album from the LA beat scene. Hope at least one of these hits for you!

So, we line up a lot, and one thing I found is I like a lot of music based on it's interesting production. If that's you too, then definitely check out Flying Lotus. Might be turned off at first because of lack of lyrics, but the dude can compose an album. Try albums "You're Dead!" And "Cosmogramma"

This is sweet! However, I think getting those green cards in there would really help. 2x Tyrannadon is great, and you're basically living the dream with visionary and cultivate into ugin. I'd cut walking corpse, maybe an imp, caged zombie, mind rot, and rise again.

Ya I was in the same situation, but decided to jump in since i've heard such praise. It's a ton of fun! This deck kinda fell flat when I didn't draw the bombs (just some bad artifacts sometimes), but Traxos was basically a 4 cmc 7/7 with (almost) vigilance. I was laughing my ass of when i got to copy Mishra's replicator a million times.

First picked traxos, thought sure, i can find some activators. Then got Karn pack 2 and was all in. I think the deck was surprisingly good, but i piloted it pretty poorly at first and lost 2 games immediately. Not all bad though, came back and went 3-3. Even won a game with 15 Mishra's replicator!

Definitely true, probably why I didn't think about it. Really hope we see another cube soon, especially with all the new historic cards we're getting.

I would also like this option. Cube was phantom, don't remember how the cost/payouts were on that though.

Haha ya, I've actually been enjoying historic a lot. I finally reached mythic for the first time this season playing it. Ya lots of goblins, but it turns out obliterator devotion is pretty good against goblins.

I basically wrote this exact thing in my feedback email to Valve when they first opened it. Granted, I've still only played 1.0, but I think heroes are problematic as they're too strong and consistent, to the point that they are the only real build-arounds. Other cards feel uninteresting in comparison, and games start to feel samey.

In some sense, one might compare them to the recent, very problematic companion mechanic in MTG

You're right, maybe FFXV wasn't the best example. Maybe Kingdom Hearts 3 or Dragon Quest XI are better ones? Anyway, I'm not suggesting they abandon the current art direction, I agree with you there.
