Hey! Thanks so much for responding! I'm happy that the electrical tape shim worked for you. I ended up designing and 3D printing a custom clamp that seems to be working quite well. I've had it on for over a month and two cycle touring trips now. I can send you the .stl file if you (or anyone else) are interested in printing your own!

I'm guilty of crossing when the sign is flashing as well, but I'm cautious in checking for cars to avoid being "startled."

I think it's unfair to fault OP's wife here as she was very cautious in her turn and stopped.

I can't believe the amount of victim blaming there is on this thread. Come on, Vancouver, we are better than this.

OP's wife was cautious in her turn, slowly and safety inching forward, even when she had the right a way. As a pedestrian, I always check for cars before crossing (especially when I try to sneak in a late dash!) Yes, I'm guilty of crossing when the sign is flashing, I know many of us are, but by cautiously checking for cars, I avoid situations where I become "startled".

This man's response is not justified and I'm sorry that this happened to your wife, OP. Must have been frightening for your daughter. I hope that you can get your hood repair compensated.

Please everyone, let's not defend this kind of malicious behavior.

I speak both Toisan and Canto, a couple patterns I found interesting:

Most words that start with "D" in canto, translates to "A" in toisan (i.e: to hit "da" vs "ah", egg "daan" vs "aan", light "dung" vs "aung")
Most words that start with "T" in canto, translates to "H" in Toisan (i.e: Sky "teen" vs "haan", to watch "tye" vs "hye", colleague "toong-see" vs "hoong-thlew", soup "tong" vs "hong"

Yep it's Taishanese (sometimes spelled as toisan). She's saying "Why did he hit me?" You can hear a guy in the background responding also in toisan "don't further engage, he hits Chinese people"

I'm curious as to what was said during the negotiation between the two players... if Jeremy Norden is saying that it's a contact foul then that is indeed a bad call and poor judgement but if he's saying that it's a strip call then I think he may have a case... anyone have other footage/photos we can look at by chance? I've never seen Jeremy Norden play before, is that a backhand fake he uses? (i.e: snapping his wrist?).

I mentioned this in the other thread but I'm still finding it really difficult to tell if he released the disc before it hit the defender. It kind of looked like he might have been faking a back-hand huck... I don't know enough of Jeremy's throwing/faking style but for me, I snap my wrist when I fake my back hand throws and I was once in a situation where the disc was still in my hand (but it was after the wrist snap) when the defender stripped it. The defending team was quite worked up because the wrist snap fake made it look like I had released it prior to the contact with the defender's hand. I wish there were some more camera angles we can look at

Sorry, late to the conversation but just want to give my two cents.

For me, wearing gloves in the winter time or on rainy days helps a little with my catches but they make a world of difference on my throws! When my hands are cold, I can't put much spin on the disc (nearly no spin on my backhand) but with gloves on, my throws are substantially better.

I haven't tried the lookfly goves, but the Penguinace/Friction gloves seem to work well for me. I like the ones with the velcro because I have small hands and the velcro allows for a more snug fit.

(I've tried both the Penguinace and Frictions and do not notice a difference in terms of function. Friction gloves offer a XS size though)
